Julen Lopetegui appears to be all set to take over from David Moyes as the new West Ham United manager.
Soon-to-be West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui has experienced Premier League football already during his time in charge of Wolves.
And with David Moyes set to leave at the end of this season, Lopetegui will be back doing what he loves in no time at all.
The 57-year-old Spaniard has allegedly already been set a target of a minimum of an eighth place finish in the Premier League table.
He has a really big job on his hands, with such a huge rebuild required at the London Stadium this summer.
However, every single player will be starting with a clean slate. What does encourage me is how obsessed Lopetegui is with the beautiful game.
However, there is something regarding his conduct that we’ve been warned about, although I must admit, I don’t necessarily think it’s a bad thing…
West Ham warned about Julen Lopetegui
The Spaniard is well-renowned for being an incredibly passionate manager.
Especially on the touchline…
The Telegraph journalist John Percy has offered an insight into the behaviour we can expect to see from the Spaniard next season:
“Technical areas will also be worth watching next season – Lopetegui is a serial touchline prowler, and his staff irritated many opposing benches in his season at Wolves.”
I actually don’t think there’s anything wrong with that, as long as he doesn’t cross the line, both literally and metaphorically!
After being bored to tears by Moyes over the past six months or so, it will be a refreshing change to see someone with a bit of fire on the touchline.
I’m slowly coming round to the idea of Julen Lopetegui replacing the Scot as the new West Ham manager.
And it seems as though we could be in for a wild ride throughout the games he’s in charge of off the pitch next season!
