Man United are sweating on the fitness of Victor Lindelof ahead of a huge Champions League game vs Bayern Munich.
Manchester United are not playing well right now. This week is going to be a huge test for the Red Devils. First up, Bayern Munich in a must-win Champions League game in front of a packed out Old Trafford.
Victory here gives Erik ten Hag’s side a chance at progressing into the knockout stages, albeit highly unlikely. All United can do is their best, ensuring all three points are picked up against Harry Kane et al.
Ahead of the match, Ten Hag conducted his usual press conference, confirming that there are doubts about one player; Victor Lindelof.
United are sweating on the fitness of the player, with the gaffer admitting that there is a ‘question mark’ over his availability for this massive clash. Lindelof was absent at the weekend as the Reds lost to Bournemouth.
Check out what the boss had to say on Lindelof’s fitness:
“In this moment I am not sure about everyone who is available. Question mark on Victor Lindelof.” Ten Hag told the media, including The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell.
Lindelof had been forming an excellent partnership at the back with Harry Maguire before going down with injury. This just leaves Ten Hag with another selection headache to try and overcome.
Does the gaffer risk Lindelof? Will he keep Luke Shaw at centre-back? Or does Raphael Varane finally come back into the side? We know the boss likes to have one left footer and one right footer back there, so it’ll certainly be intriguing to see which way he goes.
From a personal perspective, I’d give Varane his chance. This is a massive game. The Frenchman is an out and out winner. He knows what it takes to emerge victorious in huge European encounters and he’d come back into the team with a point to prove.
Hopefully, the injury doesn’t keep Lindelof sidelined for too long as I still think he has a massive role to play this term.
