Donny van de Beek is looking set to leave Man United on loan this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
While Manchester United are still trying to bolster their playing squad, another aim has to be clearing out the dead wood that still remains.
The Red Devils have overpaid for players, both in terms of transfer fee and weekly wage, for years. Perhaps no player epitomises that fact more than Donny van de Beek.
Signed from Ajax in a big-money deal, Van de Beek has never looked good enough for the highest level. Yet, a few years later, he still remains at the club, picking up his money and doing very little to earn it.
Well, according to Fabrizio Romano, those days at Old Trafford are now numbered. He states that the United midfielder ‘will leave’ the club, while it’s decision time ‘soon’ for the Dutchman.
As things stand, German side Eintracht Frankfurt are leading the race to sign Van de Beek on loan ahead of the January transfer window. Italian team Girona are also in the race.

With respect to Eintracht Frankfurt and Girona, the level of sides interested in signing Van de Beek tells you everything you need to know about how badly it has gone for the Dutchman here at Old Trafford.
He was never going to get an offer from an elite level side at this stage, purely due to the fact he cannot get into a United midfield that has been struggling for many years.
I don’t doubt that there’s a very decent player in there. I just think that he needs to drop down a level, prove his worth then in a few years, potentially make the jump up to a top tier side again.
It’s just a shame this is likely going to be a loan move for Van de Beek, presumably United will still be paying a portion of his wages until he inevitably leaves for free when this current deal expires.
