Graham Potter is the man Sir Jim Ratcliffe would like to hire, if Erik ten Hag is sacked as Man United boss…
Manchester United’s results have not been good enough so far this season. That much is blatantly obvious. Erik ten Hag, understandably, fronts a large share of the blame – though he’s not alone in that regard.
The players aren’t performing, while club ownership issues are no doubt a distraction for everyone involved. Inevitably, after the poor run of form, questions are starting to be asked of the Dutch boss…
With Sir Jim Ratcliffe set to take up a 25% stake in the club, while taking control of footballing responsibilities, there’s a chance the English businessman could look to bring in his own man.
Well, according to The Sun, that man is Graham Potter…
According to their sources, Sir Jim has met with the ex-Chelsea manager, favouring the Englishman as the boss to replace Ten Hag, if the current United manager is fired.
The Dutchman’s position is coming under increasing threat after finishing bottom of their Champions League group, while also losing 3-0 to Bournemouth this week. Ten Hag now heads to Anfield on Sunday, a ground where United haven’t scored for almost a decade, potentially with his position on the line.
Potter hasn’t bene in a job since being sacked by Chelsea in April. The Englishman struggled at Stamford Bridge, while ask any Brighton fan, they’ll tell you they improved when he left.
Is this the right hire? I’m not convinced it is, but I’m also not sure who is out there.
Our opinion is that we should stick with Ten Hag. He has the pedigree, temperament and desire to turn this around. We cannot keep sacking managers. Instead, we have to back one and I reckon we’ve got a good one here.
