Crystal Palace confirm Adam Wharton signing
© Reuters
Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of Adam Wharton from Blackburn Rovers in a deal which could fetch up to £22m.
The highly-rated 19-year-old arrives at Selhurst Park on a five-and-a-half-year deal until the summer of 2029, and Palace have pipped a couple of Premier League heavyweights to his signature.
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur were believed to be keeping a close eye on Wharton’s future, but the England Under-20 international has now committed his long-term future to Roy Hodgson‘s side, despite only penning a new deal at Ewood Park last month.
Wharton becomes the Eagles’ second signing of the winter window after Colombian right-back Daniel Munoz, and the teenager labelled it a “great honour” to pull on the Palace jersey for the first time.
Frankfurt announce arrival of Hugo Ekitike from PSG
© Reuters
Eintracht Frankfurt have announced the arrival of Hugo Ekitike from Paris Saint-Germain, with the forward joining the Bundesliga outfit on an initial loan deal.
Fulham are believed to have switched their attention to the striker earlier on deadline day when a deal for Armando Broja was stalling, but Marco Silva‘s side are now the favourites to sign the Chelsea forward on loan.
There has been a host of speculation surrounding Ekitike’s future during the January market, and it has now been confirmed that Frankfurt have won the race for the 21-year-old.
The youngster has joined the German side on an initial loan deal, but there will be an option to make the move permanent this summer for €30m (£25.6m), according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Fulham ‘agree loan deal for Chelsea’s Armando Broja’
© Reuters
Fulham have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
The Albania international’s future has been one of the headline stories on transfer deadline day, with both Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers battling to prise him away from Stamford Bridge.
Wolves are said to have had an approach for Broja rebuffed earlier in the month, and Chelsea were after an extortionate £50m to let the 22-year-old depart on a permanent deal in the last knockings of the window.
With neither Fulham nor Wolves bowing to those demands, Chelsea made Broja available for loan, and the two interested parties have been working tooth and nail to find an agreement with the Blues.
Cardiff ‘set to sign Man City’s Josh Wilson-Esbrand on loan’
© Reuters
Cardiff City are reportedly in talks to sign Manchester City left-back Josh Wilson-Esbrand on loan.
The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Ligue 1 outfit Reims where he has made 11 top-flight appearances, scoring once and providing one assist.
However, Wilson-Esbrand has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot under manager Will Still and has recently been tasked to play out of position in centre-midfield.
According to Football Insider, Man City are ready to terminate Wilson-Esbrand’s loan deal to allow him to join Cardiff on a temporary basis for the rest of the season.
Brentford ‘put Antonio Nusa deal on hold until summer’
© Reuters
Brentford have reportedly put a move for Club Brugge‘s Antonio Nusa on hold and will reassess their potential pursuit of the forward in the summer.
The Bees had allegedly agreed a club-record deal to sign the 18-year-old Norway international for around £31.5m, including add-ons, earlier this week.
However, Nusa’s medical is said to have identified knee and back issues which have raised concerns among Brentford chiefs, and the teenager has since returned to Belgium.
According to the Evening Standard, Brentford are requesting for further medical information about Nusa from both Club Brugge and the Norwegian Football Federation.

Everton manager Sean Dyche has told the press it is “improbable” that any new faces will arrive at the club on deadline day.
After not bringing in any players while sitting in the relegation zone last January, Everton look set to be completely inactive in the market once again, with the club lying in the same position.
Everton’s non-existent market ventures are of a direct consequence to the two Profitability and Sustainability breaches the club have been charged for by the Premier League, one of which has already resulted in a 10-point penalty.
When asked whether the supporters can expect any incomings today, Dyche replied: “I doubt it, I don’t even think it’s probable. It’s improbable that anyone comes in today.”
Fulham ‘turn attention to PSG forward Ekitike’
© Reuters
Fulham have reportedly identified Paris Saint-Germain forward Hugo Ekitike as a potential deadline-day signing.
Having sold Aleksandar Mitrovic to Al-Hilal during the summer, Marco Silva has been keen to bring in a new striker before close of business in the current transfer window.
The Cottagers had already been attempting to sign Chelsea‘s Armando Broja before first-choice frontman Raul Jimenez suffered an injury during the goalless draw against Everton on Tuesday night.
However, Fulham have struggled to reach a compromise with their West London neighbours, initially over a permanent deal even with Chelsea allegedly reducing their asking price from £50m to £35m.
Spurs ‘not planning deadline-day bid for Chelsea’s Gallagher’
© Reuters
Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly not be making any late approach for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.
The North Londoners have enjoyed a strong January transfer window, bringing in the likes of defender Radu Dragusin and forward Timo Werner.
However, despite Ange Postecoglou insisting earlier this week that further arrivals are unlikely, Spurs have continued to be credited with an interest in other players.
Speculation linking Gallagher with a switch to Spurs has not gone away despite the England international having been a mainstay in Mauricio Pochettino‘s starting lineup.
Palace boss Hodgson ‘has reservations over Cornet deal’
© Reuters
Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has reportedly expressed his reservations about going through with a deal that could see Maxwel Cornet join the club.
Cornet has featured very little for West Ham United this season, falling down the pecking order behind the likes of Mohammad Kudus, Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals.
The £17.5m-signing has made just two Premier League appearances for the Hammers under David Moyes this season, one of which was as a 94th-minute substitute on the opening weekend.
Cornet did start in their draw at Sheffield United just over a week ago, given the injuries to Lucas Paqueta and Michail Antonio, with Kudus also away at the Africa Cup of Nations, and he found the net to open the scoring.

West Bromwich Albion and Hull City are reportedly battling to sign Aston Villa defender Calum Chambers.
The 29-year-old has spent the last two years at Villa Park, making the switch from Arsenal on a free transfer after falling down the pecking at the Emirates Stadium.
However, Chambers has failed to kick-start his career in the West Midlands, making just 16 starts and 15 substitute outings in all competitions.

According to Sky Sports News, Benrahma is expected in France on Thursday afternoon to undergo a medical with Lyon ahead of an initial loan switch to the French outfit.

Nottingham Forest have reportedly tabled a bid for Strasbourg‘s Matz Sels in their pursuit of a new goalkeeper on deadline day.
Following the signings of Giovanni Reyna and Rodrigo Ribeiro to provide more firepower going forward, a new man between the sticks is believed to be the next priority for Nuno Espirito Santo.
Being in breach of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability rules is not slowing down Forest’s momentum in the market, as they look set to be one of the most active clubs on deadline day.
Nuno has given opportunities to both Odysseas Vlachodimos and Matt Turner since being appointed manager in December, but is not overly impressed by either.

Brighton & Hove Albion have announced that Mahmoud Dahoud has linked up with Stuttgart on a loan deal for the rest of the season.

Much was expected of the 28-year-old who was making the switch from Borussia Dortmund, and a place in the team became available when Moises Caicedo left for Chelsea for a British transfer record.
However, Dahoud has failed to establish himself at the Amex Stadium, being restricted to nine starts and five substitute appearances in all competitions.

The 19-year-old ends his association with the Gunners after a four-and-a-half-year spell in North London, having left the Queens Park Rangers academy in the summer of 2019.
Ibrahim made an impression at Under-18 level with four goals and three assists from 41 matches, while he also added one goal and four assists from 22 games for the club’s Under-23 side.
Last season, the teenager made the bench for two Europa League fixtures with Bodo/Glimt and PSV Eindhoven, and he was named in a Premier League squad for the first time in November’s 3-1 win over Burnley.

Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of Middlesbrough forward Morgan Rogers on a long-term contract.
The West Midlands outfit have been attempting to bolster their attacking ranks through January as they bid to remain in contention at the top of the Premier League table.
Tuesday’s 3-1 defeat at the hands of Newcastle United made it just one win in five for Unai Emery‘s side, and they now sit down in fifth place in the standings.

That is how it has proven with just 45 minutes of football being provided to Veliz across eight appearances in the Premier League.

Real Madrid ‘keeping an eye on Van Dijk’s situation at Liverpool’

Real Madrid are reportedly keeping a close eye on Virgil van Dijk‘s situation at Liverpool, with the Netherlands international potentially following Jurgen Klopp out the door at Anfield.
Klopp revealed last week that he would be standing down as Liverpool head coach this summer, and comments from Van Dijk in the aftermath of the shock announcement suggested that the Netherlands international was considering his own future at the club.
Van Dijk has since insisted that his words were “taken out of context”, with the centre-back remaining fully committed to Liverpool.
However, the 32-year-old’s contract at Anfield is due to expire in the summer of 2025, and according to Defensa Central, the situation is being closely monitored by Real Madrid.

Real Madrid will reportedly not make an attempt to re-sign Raphael Varane from Manchester United before the January transfer window closes for business.
Los Blancos are currently without the services of two important centre-backs in the shape of Eder Militao and David Alaba due to serious knee injuries.
Militao has been missing since August, while Alaba suffered his ACL injury in the latter stages of last year and will be absent for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign.
Earlier this month, Real Madrid are believed to have considered moving a centre-back, and it has been claimed in recent days that the club were eyeing a potential late swoop for Varane.
Arsenal ‘eyeing summer move for Marcus Rashford’

Arsenal are reportedly keeping a close eye on Marcus Rashford‘s situation at Manchester United, with the Gunners considering launching a summer move for the attacker.
The 26-year-old has struggled to show his best form for the Red Devils during the 2023-24 campaign, only managing four goals and six assists in 26 appearances in all competitions.
There has been a host of speculation surrounding his future over the last few days following the events of last week, with the Man United academy product being pictured out in Belfast on both Wednesday and Thursday evening before calling in sick to training on Friday.
Rashford was not involved in Sunday’s FA Cup clash with Newport County, with the club maintaining that he was unwell, but head coach Erik ten Hag said after the game that he would “deal with” the situation.

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to allow Armando Broja to leave the club on loan before the January transfer window closes for business.
There has been a host of speculation surrounding the striker’s future this month, with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham both believed to be interested in his services.
Chelsea had allegedly been hopeful of selling the 22-year-old in the winter market, with a disappointing campaign seeing him manage just two goals and two assists in 19 appearances in all competitions.
However, according to journalist David Ornstein, a loan exit is now possible, providing that Chelsea receive a “significant fee” and there are assurances over “game time”.

Man United’s Pellistri joins Granada on loan for rest of season
© Reuters
Manchester United have confirmed that Facundo Pellistri has joined La Liga outfit Granada on loan for the second half of the 2023-24 campaign.
There has been a host of speculation surrounding the Uruguay international’s future in recent weeks, with a number of clubs believed to have expressed an interest in securing his services on a short-term basis.
Anthony Martial‘s groin operation led to claims that Pellistri would have to remain at Old Trafford as cover, with the Red Devils lacking numbers in the final third of the field.
However, the 20-time English champions have ultimately agreed to let the 22-year-old move on, and he will spend the second half of the season with Granada.

Who could be on the move today?
© Reuters
It has been a quiet January transfer window on the whole so far – especially compared to the Chelsea-led spending of this time last year, but there could still be a few notable transfers going through today.
Once again, Chelsea may take centre stage, but this time for outgoings with the future of Armando Broja among the key issues to sort. Fulham are interested in the striker, but the sticking point appears to be his asking price – thought to be £50m, whether that is this month or as an obligation. to buy in the summer following a loan spell.
Conor Gallagher‘s name is also likely to come up, but the midfielder looks increasingly unlikely to leave Stamford Bridge – news which will no doubt delight most Chelsea fans.
Elsewhere, we are expecting Morgan Rogers to complete his move from Middlesbrough to Aston Villa, while another Championship to Premier League switch could be happening with Adam Wharton to Crystal Palace from Blackburn.
