Fulham complete Armando Broja loan signing from Chelsea
© Reuters
Fulham have completed the signing of Armando Broja on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old will spend the remainder of the campaign at his parent club’s West London rivals having put pen to paper on a short-term deal at Craven Cottage.
Broja’s future was one of the main talks points on deadline day of the winter window, with Chelsea initially thought to be holding out for a £50m offer, but then softening their stance and making themselves open to loan deals.
Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham were the front-runners for his signature, but Chelsea’s loan fee demands are understood to have forced Wolves out of the running.
Blackburn sign Billy Koumetio on loan from Liverpool
© Reuters
Blackburn Rovers have completed the loan signing of Liverpool defender Billy Koumettio.
The 21-year-old joined Liverpool’s academy set up in November 2018 after beginning his youth career with French side Lyon.
Koumettio made his Liverpool debut in a Champions League game against FC Midtjylland in December 2020, before he made his second appearance in the EFL Cup in the 2021-22 season.
After spending time on loan at Austria Vienna last season, Koumetio spent the first half of the current campaign with Ligue 2 club USL Dunkerque.
Burnley send Anass Zaroury on loan to Hull City
© Reuters
Burnley winger Anass Zaroury has completed a loan move to Hull City.
Zaroury, who joined the Clarets in the summer of 2022, was a regular in Vincent Kompany‘s side during last season’s promotion-winning campaign.
The winger scored six goals and provided six assists in 34 league appearances to help the Clarets cruise to the Championship title.
However, the Moroccan has fallen down the pecking this season, making five substitute appearances in six Premier League outings.
John Fleck leaves Sheffield United for Blackburn Rovers
© Reuters
Sheffield United have announced that long-serving midfielder John Fleck has left the club to join Blackburn Rovers on a permanent deal.
The 32-year-old has played 278 matches for the Blades since arriving from Coventry City on a free transfer in 2016, registering 16 goals and 48 assists in the process, winning their Player of the Season prize in his first two campaigns.
Since arriving at Bramall Lane, Fleck played a crucial role in Sheffield United’s rise from League One back to the Premier League, helping Chris Wilder‘s team achieve a ninth-placed finish in the 2019-20 season.
Fleck made another 26 appearances for Sheffield United in the 2022-23 season en route back to the big time, but he has only played four times in the top flight this season, and his only start saw him last just 45 minutes in the 5-0 hammering at Burnley.

Aston Villa sign Australia international goalkeeper Joe Gauci
© Reuters
Australian goalkeeper Joe Gauci has completed a permanent transfer to Aston Villa from Adelaide United.
The 23-year-old has reinforced Unai Emery‘s ranks for an undisclosed fee and is believed to have signed a four-and-a-half-year contract until the end of the 2027-28 campaign.
Gauci joins first-choice Emiliano Martinez and backup Robin Olsen in the Villa goalkeeping department, where a space opened up thanks to Filip Marschall‘s loan to MK Dons.
Gauci arrives in the West Midlands following stints with A-League sides Central Coast Mariners, Melbourne City and Adelaide United, keeping 17 clean sheets in 76 games for the latter club.
Midfielder Orel Mangala leaves Nottingham Forest
© Reuters
Midfielder Orel Mangala has completed a deadline day move to Ligue 1 side Lyon.
The 25-year-old has been a regular fixture in the Forest squad since completing a £12.7m deal from Stuttgart in the summer of 2022.
Mangala has started 19 of his 20 Premier League appearances this term, including the last two league matches against Brentford and Arsenal.
However, Forest have allowed the Belgium international to join French club Lyon on loan for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
Leeds United sign Burnley defender Connor Roberts on loan
© Reuters
Leeds United have signed Burnley right-back Connor Roberts on loan for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
The 28-year-old was fundamental to the Clarets’ successful promotion charge in the 2022-23 campaign, and he started each of Burnley’s first seven Premier League fixtures in the current term.
However, Roberts has not made a top-flight starting XI since a 3-0 loss to Brentford on October 21, with Vitinho being preferred on the right-hand side of the backline by Vincent Kompany.
With Rennes’ Lorenz Assignon and Montpellier HSC’s Maxime Esteve also arriving on deadline day to strengthen Kompany’s defensive ranks further, Roberts has dropped back down to the Championship for the rest of the campaign.
QPR sign Isaac Hayden on loan from Newcastle
© Reuters
Queens Park Rangers have signed midfielder Isaac Hayden on loan from Newcastle United for the rest of the season.
The 28-year-old was recalled from a loan spell at Standard Liege earlier this month after making 11 appearances for the Belgium side.
Hayden will now spend the remainder of the campaign at Loftus Road after becoming QPR’s second signing of the winter transfer window following the arrival of forward Michael Frey from Royal Antwerp.
“I feel very happy, very pleased to be joining QPR,” Hayden told the club’s official website. “I am just delighted to get it over the line.

Burnley have signed Rennes full-back Lorenz Assignon on loan until the end of the 2023-24 season.
The 23-year-old links up with Vincent Kompany‘s side on the back of a productive first half of the campaign with Les Rouges et Noir, scoring two goals and setting up two more in 21 appearances.
Assignon – who can play as a right-back or further up the field – started four of Rennes’ Europa League group matches to help Julien Stephan‘s side reach the knockout round playoffs, where they will face AC Milan.
The defender boasts a total of three goals and six assists in 63 matches for Rennes and is the second Ligue 1 defender to arrive at Turf Moor on loan on deadline day after Montpellier HSC’s Maxime Esteve.

QPR CEO Christian Nourry said: “We are delighted to add Joe to our ranks for the rest of the season.
“Our financial limitations are well known so to bring in a player of Joe’s potential is particularly pleasing.
“I am thankful to Wolves for placing their trust in us with a youngster I know they have high hopes for.”
R’s head coach Marti Cifuentes added: “I am very happy we have been able to bring in Joe.
“He is a player who is very comfortable in possession, very good in small spaces, very good in the passing game.
“He can play as an ‘8’ or as a ’10’. He can also play as a ‘6’ but his natural position is an attacking midfielder, and he has determination to improve himself as a player.”
Celtic sign Adam Idah on loan from Norwich City
© Reuters
Celtic have signed forward Adam Idah on loan from Norwich City for the rest of the season.
The Republic of Ireland international signed a new contract with Norwich in February 2023 to extend his stay until 2028.
However, Idah has struggled to hold down a place in David Wagner‘s side this season, having started just 14 of his 28 Championship appearances.
Despite having to settle for a substitute role on a number of occasions, Idah has still gone on to register six league goals this term.

“I’m so delighted that Anass has agreed to join the club. He’s a player of proven pedigree at this level, having been a huge part of Burnley‘s Championship-winning season,” said manager Liam Rosenior.
“Anass is someone I’ve absolutely loved from the first time I saw him play and he’s going to give us so much quality from wide areas.
“He’s going to get fans off their seats. He’s a technical player who takes the ball, can go one-v-one and completely fits into our style of football.
“Credit to Acun and Tan for backing me. This signing sums up the ambition of the football club and where we want to get to.”
Nottingham Forest announce Matz Sels arrival
© Reuters
Nottingham Forest have announced the arrival of goalkeeper Matz Sels on a permanent deal from Strasbourg.
The Belgium international has put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year deal at the City Ground until the summer of 2027, and Forest could fork out up to £5m for his services.
Sels will compete with Matt Turner, Odysseas Vlachodimos and Wayne Hennessey for the Garibaldi gloves, and he reinforces Nuno Espirito Santo‘s goalkeeping department following the permanent exit of Ethan Horvath to Cardiff City.
The 31-year-old returns to England having previously turned out for Newcastle United from 2016 to 2018, helping the Magpies win promotion back to the Premier League in his debut season, although he played just 14 times for the club in all tournaments and spent the 2017-18 campaign on loan at Anderlecht.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Alejo Veliz completes Sevilla loan
© Reuters
Tottenham Hotspur striker Alejo Veliz has joined La Liga strugglers Sevilla on loan for the rest of the season, the North London club have confirmed.
The 20-year-old had extremely large boots to fill upon his arrival from Rosario Central over the summer, joining on a six-year contract as a long-term replacement for Bayern Munich-bound Harry Kane.
However, with Son Heung-min, Richarlison and now Timo Werner also providing central options for Ange Postecoglou, Veliz has been restricted to just 42 minutes of Premier League football across eight substitute outings.
Veliz opened his Tottenham account in December’s 4-2 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion, but just three days later against Bournemouth, he was cruelly forced to leave the field with a knee injury, which is expected to sideline him until March.
Rangers sign Oscar Cortes on loan from Lens
© Reuters
Rangers have completed the loan signing of 20-year-old Colombian Oscar Cortes from Lens.
The Scottish Premiership side have signed Cortes on a loan deal until the end of the season, with an option to make the move permanent in the summer.
“I am very honoured and privileged to be signing for Rangers,” Cortes told the club’s official website.
“I have heard a lot about the history and tradition of Rangers, and I have had positive conversations with the manager who said I can help the team reach their goals this season.
Bournemouth announce Enes Unal signing
© Reuters
Bournemouth have confirmed the signing of Getafe striker Enes Unal on loan with an obligation to buy under certain conditions.
The 26-year-old will at least spend the remainder of the season at the Vitality Stadium, and the Cherries have revealed that he will pen a permanent deal if unspecified objectives are met in the coming months.
It was previously reported that Bournemouth would possess a £14m option to keep Unal on the books at the end of the campaign, and he returns to England following an unremarkable spell at Manchester City.
“We’re really pleased to welcome Enes to the club and believe he’ll add strength to our front line,” Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake told the club’s website. “He’s proven that he can score goals in multiple different countries, and we believe he’s got the skillset to succeed in the Premier League.”

Since joining Everton from boyhood club Barnsley in 2015, the centre-back has played 151 times for the Toffees, scoring five goals, including a strike in a Merseyside derby against Liverpool.

Akpom has registered a respectable nine goals in 20 matches for Ajax since arriving in the Netherlands, where he is under contract until 2028, but he has made the starting XI on just three occasions in the Eredivisie.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Forest approached Ajax with an offer to sign Akpom on loan with an option to buy for €16m (£13.7m), which would become an obligation if the Tricky Trees stayed in the Premier League.
Alejo Veliz ‘completes Sevilla medical ahead of loan move’

Tottenham Hotspur striker Alejo Veliz has reportedly completed his medical with Sevilla ahead of a loan switch to the Europa League winners.
The 20-year-old has only earned fleeting opportunities in the Spurs XI since joining from Rosario Central over the summer, scoring once in eight Premier League appearances.
Three days after opening his Spurs account against Brighton & Hove Albion in December, Veliz sustained a serious knee injury against Bournemouth, which is expected to sideline him until March.
Despite his lengthy layoff, Sevilla showed an interest in taking the Argentinian for the remainder of the season, and according to Sky Sports News, he has passed his medical with Los Palanganas.
Luis Enrique unsure of Kylian Mbappe’s summer plans

Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique has admitted that he is unsure of Kylian Mbappe‘s plans for the summer, as the speculation surrounding the forward continues.
Mbappe can bring to an end his contract at PSG on June 30, with Real Madrid still the favourites for his signature despite reports of interest from the Premier League.
There had been suggestions that Real Madrid wanted the 25-year-old to make a decision on his future by the middle of January, with the Spanish giants not prepared to enter into another saga.
Carlo Ancelotti‘s side were expected to sign Mbappe on a free transfer in 2022, only for the ex-Monaco youngster to pen a new contract in the French capital.

Moore’s only two starts in the 2023-24 campaign have come in FA Cup and EFL Cup action, and from eight substitute outings in the Premier League, he has totalled just 100 minutes.
With the South Coast outfit also set to reinforce their attacking ranks with the initial loan capture of Enes Unal from Getafe, Moore has been given the green light to see out the season at Portman Road as Ipswich vie for promotion to the Premier League.

Aston Villa confirm Lino Sousa signing and Plymouth Argyle loan move

Aston Villa have confirmed the arrival of former Arsenal left-back Lino Sousa, who has been immediately loaned out to Plymouth Argyle.
The 19-year-old swaps the Emirates for Villa Park after failing to make a single senior appearance for the Gunners, who poached him from the West Bromwich Albion academy in January 2022.
Sousa – an England Under-19 international – helped Arsenal reach the final of the FA Youth Cup last season, and he struck three goals in 14 youth-team games in the first half of the 2023-24 campaign.
However, the closest that the 2005-born defender got to a first-team debut was making the bench in a Premier League win over Brentford in September 2022 and Arsenal’s 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the third round of the FA Cup last month.

Bournemouth ‘intend to keep Spurs-linked Solanke despite Unal arrival’

Bournemouth have no intention of parting ways with Dominic Solanke on transfer deadline day despite the impending arrival of Enes Unal from Getafe, according to a report.
The Cherries are yet to make a single signing, at the time of writing, in the winter window, but they appear to be close to recruiting their first player in the form of Turkey international Unal.
A recent report claims that Bournemouth have reached an agreement with Getafe to sign the 23-year-old striker on an initial loan for the remainder of the season.
The agreement is said to include an obligation to buy for €16.5m (£14.1m) which will make Unal’s move to the Vitality Stadium permanent in the summer.

Bayern Munich have completed the signing of Spanish winger Bryan Zaragoza from Granada.
The Bundesliga giants had initially agreed to sign the 22-year-old in the summer, but they have opted to bring his move forward with immediate effect.
It is understood that the compensation fee Bayern will pay to sign Zaragoza in the winter window is worth between €4m and €5m, on top of the initial €15m (£12.9m) they had previously agreed last summer.
Zaragoza, who will wear the No.17 shirt, has put pen to paper on a five-and-a-half year deal at the Allianz Arena that runs until June 2029, and he becomes Thomas Tuchel‘s fourth signing of the winter window after Eric Dier, Sacha Boey and youngster Jonah Kusi-Asare.

Swansea secure loan deal for Arsenal youngster Sagoe Jr

Swansea City have announced the loan addition of Arsenal youngster Charles Sagoe Jr.
New head coach Luke Williams has been eager to add fresh faces to his squad in a bid to make a late push for the Championship playoffs.
With Yannick Bolasie having been released at the end of his short-term contract, Swansea have done business with Arsenal for the second time this season.
Charlie Patino is already spending a season-long loan in South Wales, the midfielder making 15 starts and nine substitute outings in all competitions.
Newcastle announce signing of Man City youngster Harrison
© Reuters
Newcastle United have confirmed the signing of Manchester City winger Alfie Harrison.
As a result of the club’s well-documented issues with FFP, the Magpies have been unable to make a first-team addition during the January transfer window.
A late change on that front appears unlikely with Eddie Howe unable to find a suitable fresh face for the engine room, but the North-East outfit have been able to bring in a player who could prove important in the future.
Harrison has made the switch to St James’ Park for an undisclosed fee on a contract until the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
Lazio ‘reach agreement to sign Fenerbahce’s Kent’

Lazio are reportedly looking to push through a deal for Fenerbahce winger Ryan Kent.
The Turkish giants won the race to sign Kent on a free transfer last summer when he ended his association with Rangers.
While the expectation was that the Englishman would become a regular in the starting lineup, he has instead been limited to 15 appearances in all competitions.
Just one of his eight starts have come in Super Lig, while the 27-year-old has contributed just one goal and two assists.
West Ham, Betis ‘hopeful of striking Fornals deal’

Real Betis are reportedly edging nearer to securing the signing of West Ham United midfielder Pablo Fornals.
On the back of having already signed Kalvin Phillips on loan earlier in the transfer window, David Moyes is eager to make at least one more fresh addition before close of business on Thursday.
However, as much attention is being paid to outgoings, with winger Said Benrahma on the brink of signing for French side Lyon.
Furthermore, the Hammers have received interest from Betis for Fornals, who has endured a frustrating campaign at the London Stadium.
Dyche reveals any deadline day signings are “improbable” at Everton
© Reuters
Everton manager Sean Dyche has told the press it is “improbable” that any new faces will arrive at the club on deadline day.
After not bringing in any players while sitting in the relegation zone last January, Everton look set to be completely inactive in the market once again, with the club lying in the same position.
Everton’s non-existent market ventures are of a direct consequence to the two Profitability and Sustainability breaches the club have been charged for by the Premier League, one of which has already resulted in a 10-point penalty.
When asked whether the supporters can expect any incomings today, Dyche replied: “I doubt it, I don’t even think it’s probable. It’s improbable that anyone comes in today.”
Fulham ‘turn attention to PSG forward Ekitike’
© Reuters
Fulham have reportedly identified Paris Saint-Germain forward Hugo Ekitike as a potential deadline-day signing.
Having sold Aleksandar Mitrovic to Al-Hilal during the summer, Marco Silva has been keen to bring in a new striker before close of business in the current transfer window.
The Cottagers had already been attempting to sign Chelsea‘s Armando Broja before first-choice frontman Raul Jimenez suffered an injury during the goalless draw against Everton on Tuesday night.
However, Fulham have struggled to reach a compromise with their West London neighbours, initially over a permanent deal even with Chelsea allegedly reducing their asking price from £50m to £35m.
Spurs ‘not planning deadline-day bid for Chelsea’s Gallagher’
© Reuters
Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly not be making any late approach for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.
The North Londoners have enjoyed a strong January transfer window, bringing in the likes of defender Radu Dragusin and forward Timo Werner.
However, despite Ange Postecoglou insisting earlier this week that further arrivals are unlikely, Spurs have continued to be credited with an interest in other players.
Speculation linking Gallagher with a switch to Spurs has not gone away despite the England international having been a mainstay in Mauricio Pochettino‘s starting lineup.
Palace boss Hodgson ‘has reservations over Cornet deal’
© Reuters
Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has reportedly expressed his reservations about going through with a deal that could see Maxwel Cornet join the club.
Cornet has featured very little for West Ham United this season, falling down the pecking order behind the likes of Mohammad Kudus, Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals.
The £17.5m-signing has made just two Premier League appearances for the Hammers under David Moyes this season, one of which was as a 94th-minute substitute on the opening weekend.
Cornet did start in their draw at Sheffield United just over a week ago, given the injuries to Lucas Paqueta and Michail Antonio, with Kudus also away at the Africa Cup of Nations, and he found the net to open the scoring.

Nottingham Forest have reportedly tabled a bid for Strasbourg‘s Matz Sels in their pursuit of a new goalkeeper on deadline day.
Following the signings of Giovanni Reyna and Rodrigo Ribeiro to provide more firepower going forward, a new man between the sticks is believed to be the next priority for Nuno Espirito Santo.
Being in breach of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability rules is not slowing down Forest’s momentum in the market, as they look set to be one of the most active clubs on deadline day.
Nuno has given opportunities to both Odysseas Vlachodimos and Matt Turner since being appointed manager in December, but is not overly impressed by either.

However, before having the chance to make his debut for Port Vale, it has been revealed that Williams is struggling with an “underlying” injury, and he will head back to Liverpool to undergo his rehabilitation.
“Following the emergence of an underlying injury issue, Rhys Williams has returned to Liverpool to continue his rehabilitation for the remainder of the season,” Port Vale said in a statement. “We would like to wish Rhys all the very best in his future career and thank Liverpool for their understanding throughout.”
