Chris Sutton has claimed the pressure is on Manchester City and Arsenal following their draw on Sunday.
Earlier in the day, Liverpool‘s title ambitions appeared to have taken a significant dent when Danny Welbeck gave Brighton the lead after just two minutes at Anfield.
However, as they have so often as of late, the Reds battled back from a losing position to claim all three points and return to the top of the Premier League.
Over in Manchester, the Etihad hosted a clash between City and Arsenal that had the potential to serve as the impetus for the winner’s surge towards the silverware.
Ultimately though, what played out proved to be a tactically fascinating whilst simultaneously cautious and interesting affair and both teams may end up regretting not pushing the boat out in pursuit of victory come the end of the season.

Speaking on Mail Sport’s It’s All Kicking Off podcast, former Premier League winner Sutton explained that Liverpool just need to keep their cool in the run in and the title could be theirs for the taking.
‘Overall, I think they’ve got a generous run of games, Liverpool, from now to the end of the season,’ he told co-host Ian Ladyman.
‘It’s just holding the nerve. And, you know, what did yesterday mean going forward?
‘It means that the pressure’s really on Arsenal and Manchester City now, because there isn’t any margin of error now for them. They can’t afford another slip.’
Speaking on Sunday’s clash between City and Arsenal, Sutton added that while becoming the first team to prevent City from scoring in 57 games at the Etihad is a feather in Arteta’s cap the advantage is now firmly in Liverpool’s favour.
‘I think the fact that Mikel Arteta, the situation he took over Arsenal, the way he’s built them, the way that he has shown he is so flexible and adaptable.
‘I mean, twice have played Manchester City this season. They certainly haven’t been gung-ho and they’ve been rear guard displays, but they still carried a threat, found a way in the in the game at the Emirates.
‘Look, would he have liked to create more opportunities?Probably, but overall it did feel like that Arsenal have made another step in the right direction.
