Manchester City do hold a “strong interest” in Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise, according to The Athletic.
Chelsea, Newcastle and Bayern Munich are the three teams that have made a formal approach for the Frenchman (with the Blues seemingly the most advanced in negotiations). However, the Premier League champions and rivals Manchester United are also believed to be in the mix to sign him.
With Olise’s release clause reportedly set at £60m, City supporters on X have been debating whether their team should trigger it:
Olise is probably the best player City can sign this summer

Olise too injury prone. Possibly Eze but we need Bruno more.

A talent but fitness doubts? Only played 19 games for Palace last season.

Sign olise now.

The future of Savio could be a determining factor
The Troyes winger is expected to join City this summer but there have been reports that he could be loaned back to Girona, where he played last season.
If Savio does remain at the Etihad, it would allow Jeremy Doku to be switched to the right wing, where it is believed Pep Guardiola would prefer to play him. Otherwise, it could leave a place available in the squad for Olise to be brought in.
City will be concerned about Olise’s injury record
Despite the 22-year-old’s undoubted talent, he has been plagued by hamstring problems over the last twelve months. He was limited to just 19 appearances during the 2023/24 campaign.
Olise’s fitness was pretty good before last season, though, so you could make the case that he was unlucky. Whether City’s recruitment team will agree, we shall have to wait and see.
