Manchester City will not make a move for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Reports had suggested that the Premier League champions had made enquiries about the Italian international’s availability. However, writing on X, Romano was adamant that the PSG star is “not an option”:
🔵 Donnarumma, not an option for Man City. No talks, no plans to go for that kind of ‘big name’.

As Romano mentions, City intend to make Stefan Ortega their No.1 if Ederson does leave the Etihad Stadium over the coming weeks.
Will Ederson go?
The Brazilian international is said to have accepted an offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad but the Saudi side and City are said to be some way apart on the transfer fee.
The Cityzens are looking to get between €50m (£42m) and €60m (£50.5m) for Ederson, who has less than two years left on his contract. At the moment, many observers feel the keeper will end up staying unless the club decide to lower their demands.
Will anyone else depart City before the transfer window closes?
Kalvin Phillips and Joao Cancelo are not part of Pep Guardiola’s plans. The pair have returned from loan spells at West Ham and Barcelona respectively but they are likely to be offloaded on a permanent basis if the right offer arrives.
There remains some uncertainty around the future of Kyle Walker but, like Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva, there is a sense that he will end up staying.
Matheus Nunes is another name that has been floated as being surplus to requirements. Like Ederson, the midfielder could be on his way to Saudi Arabia if a team is prepared to stump up the cash.
