Can you believe it? Football is BACK, baby! The Community Shield is today — the annual traditional preseason opener of the new Premier League season featuring the winners of the League vs. the winners of the FA Cup. This year that means a Manchester Derby between City and United. That might not excite everyone reading this particular blog, but on the other hand it’s football and it’s a new season and so why not do an open thread ahead of Spurs’ final friendly vs. Bayern Munich?
Weirdly, this match isn’t televised in the USA but is streamed on ESPN+. Is that new? I can’t remember, but it means you’ll need a subscription to watch it. Sorry. Don’t put illegal stream links in the comments, they’ll get us in trouble.
So here’s your open thread. The usual rules apply — be nice and don’t be a jerk (to each other, IDK if you’re a jerk to Manchester City/United players on the Internet Dot Com). And if you want to use this thread to discuss the Olympic women’s gold medal match between Brazil and USA, well who am I to stop you? It’s a free country. Do what you want.
