Tottenham Hotspur have been dealing with a striking dilemma as Ange Postecoglou looks to bring in a marquee striker this summer.
The club have been without a consistent number nine since Harry Kane left the North Londoners for a move to Bayern Munich last summer. And the Australian gaffer is looking to ensure that he doesn’t go into another season without a reliable option in the offensive line.
Tottenham weigh up Richarlison sale as Solanke pursuit heats up
Spurs have already fortified their efforts to land Dominic Solanke this summer, and a possible move for the 26-year-old is only around the corner.
With Solanke coming into the picture, the Lilywhites’ current number nine, Richarlison, has been subject to scrutiny, and his future at the club is under the spotlight. Spurs have agreed to a £65 million move for the former Liverpool striker.
The club are still willing to accept a substantial offer for his services despite his public plea to stay put in the English top tier, per Football Insider.
There has been interest in his services from the Middle East with Al Hilal, subject to public links with the player’s signature.
Ancelotti’s admiration for Richarlison fails to mask Spurs’ concerns
Richy has always had high potential and high quality, something that Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti realized when he took charge of Everton.
The Italian gaffer complemented Richarlison with high praise, saying [via. Liverpool Echo]:
“Richarlison was a fantastic talent before me [Ancelotti’s arrival last month] and will be a fantastic talent after me. He has skills and ability… power and strength and speed. He is really the complete striker.”
These words prove how good he can become at his best; however, Tottenham have not seen him playing at that level, and it could be an end to his time at the club.
