Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to bring a highly regarded wide forward all summer transfer window with no move being materialized and the new season around the corner.
Tottenham left empty-handed in Neto pursuit
Ange Postecoglou loves his winger orchestrating the play and pulling up the creative output from the spaces out wide, and he wants to replicate his playing style with high-quality attacking-minded players on the flank. The Australian gaffer has been looking in the transfer market for such players, with the likes of Nico Williams and Chiesa subject to links with a move to N17.
However, among the wingers in the market, Pedro Neto was subject to links with a move to White Hart Lane, which extended over the summer window.
Tottenham were plotting an ambitious move for Pedro Neto a few days ago. The club did try to pursue his signatures as Daniel Levy sent in a bid of cash plus player to bring the Portuguese to N17, which was eventually rejected by Wolves, per Wolves correspondent for the Daily Star, Liam Keen.
Skipp offered in Neto deal
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, he claims that Spurs made a cash-plus player offer with Oliver Skipp included as part of the deal.
He stated:
“Spurs & Chelsea both had player+cash offers for Neto rejected by Wolves, with Spurs’ offer including midfielder Oliver Skipp.”
However, despite Tottenham’s best efforts, the player eventually moved to Chelsea as the West Londoners agreed to a deal worth £51.4m plus bonuses for the 24-year-old that Pep Guardiola hailed as “incredible.”
For Skipp, being offered the deal to sign Neto means that the club are still exploring potential options as regards his future. He has been offered a new contract to continue at White Hart Lane, though a summer move still remains a possibility.
