Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to acquire a new defender in the ongoing summer transfer window as Ange Postecoglou looks to increase depth in his roster as we head into the next campaign.
The central defensive duo of Romero and Van de Ven have been subject to consistent problems with injuries and suspensions throughout the previous season. The Lilywhites suffered substantially from their absence throughout the past campaign.
While Spurs did bring in Radu Dragusin in the winter window earlier this year, they still need to bring in more players at the heart of defence this off-season.
Tottenham join race for Chelsea defender Chalobah
Tottenham have been looking at a possible move for wantaway Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, per The Standard, and the recent movement around the Cobham graduate points towards a West London exit.
The £50,000-a-week defender has been linked with a move to Spurs’ Premier League rival Crystal Palace as well, and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano provided the latest update on Chalobah’s potential transfer this summer.
The Italian insists that Palace would be looking at the 25-year-old, dubbed a ‘soldier‘ by Potter if Marc Guehi concludes his much-anticipated move to Newcastle United.

Fabrizio Said: (via. Caughtoffside)
“On Trevoh Chalobah’s situation, Crystal Palace are interested but it’s the same with clubs from abroad. Chalobah will take his time to decide what will be the best opportunity for him. What I’m told too is that Crystal Palace also have Lacroix on their shortlist, a player that’s really appreciated by Glasner. So, a decision will be made once Marc Guehi’s future is clarified as talks with Newcastle are still ongoing, not done yet.”
Tottenham already have three defenders who will be ahead of Chalobah in the pecking order, and it is hard to see him moving to a club where he would be bench-warming while at Palace he will get opportunities in abundance.

We will see if Levy pursues a move for Chalobah and, if so, whether the player decides to move to White Hart Lane.
