Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to build on Ange Postecoglou’s success in his first season at White Hart Lane. Daniel Levy wants to ensure that he provides the necessary armour for the Australian gaffer to take the club to the next level.
Spurs splash £65m on Solanke
Spurs started their summer on a high with the arrival of Archie Gray, which was preceded by ensuring that Timo Werner would remain at the club and extend his loan spell at N17. Yet, this didn’t solve the problem that Ange was out to solve in the offseason. The striking problem.
Ange asked, and Levy delivered. Daniel Levy has secured the signatures of Dominic Solanke, who arrives from Bournemouth in a £65 million transfer. This is supposedly one of the marquee transfers of the Premier League this summer, and it is one that can deliver mighty returns for Spurs.
Kane backs Solanke to succeed at Tottenham
Tottenham have lacked a clinical presence upfront following Harry Kane’s transfer to Bayern Munich last season, and Solanke arrives at the club contending to fill in Kane’s shoes at N17.
And Kane himself has spoken about the arrival of the 26-year-old at White Hart Lane. Speaking after Munich’s 3-2 win over Spurs at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Kane said (via. Sky Sports)
“It should be great. Dom (Dominic Solanke) is a great player who plays with high intensity and high speed. For sure he is going to get chances in this team with the way Ange plays, and you saw that today too, top teams going at it toe-to-toe. I think it’s a really good signing. I just saw him in the dressing room there and wished him all the best. Of course I hope he has a great season.”
