As the summer transfer window draws to a close, Tottenham’s pursuit of players as well as their efforts to shed their deadwood amp up.
Some sagas are over, for now at least. Emerson Royal, case in point, is now at AC Milan, while Bryan Gil has been loaned out to Girona for the season.
Now, fresh reports have emerged regarding another player Spurs would like to see the back of.
Charlotte FC likely to turn to Giovani Lo Celso
According to a Daily Mail report, Major League Soccer side Charlotte FC may turn their attention towards Giovani Lo Celso if their current pursuit of Newcastle United’s Miguel Almirón yields no result.
Charlotte deems the veteran Paraguay international, also linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, is priced out for them and may thus consider the 28-year-old Lo Celso, valued by Transfermarkt at €16 million with his £3.64m-per-year contract expiring next year, a better value for money.
Despite being an outcast at Spurs, Lo Celso is rated highly in Argentina’s international setup, with his coach Lionel Scaloni having once said this about him:
“Numerically there is a replacement, but football-wise there is not. There are others with other abilities, but it is evident that he has given us a lot.
Scaloni speaking to Argentine broadcaster TyC Sports, as quoted by Football London.
Lo Celso has also been linked with a reunion with Unai Emery at Aston Villa in recent weeks, under whom he won the Europa League at Villarreal three summers ago.
Get it done
Lo Celso is in the final year of his contract and, despite being regarded highly outside the club, is clearly not part of Ange Postecoglou‘s plans.
Spurs should, therefore, do everything in their power to sell him this summer.
