Tottenham Hotspur are enjoying a strong summer transfer window as the Spurs supporters enjoy the high of a £65 million arrival of Dominic Solanke. The former Liverpool star brings a physical and clinical presence up front for the North Londoners, something they were missing in the past season.
However, the job is not done yet. Daniel Levy is looking to ensure that the North Londoners go into the upcoming campaign on a high as he looks to provide more feathers to Ange Postecoglou’s armoury before the end of the ongoing summer window.
Spurs boss Postecoglou desperate for midfield addition
The officials at Hotspur Way have been vying to move for a midfielder since the start of the window; the club have been linked with multiple players during the off-season, although no transfer has materialized despite aggressive links.
Levy is looking to change that situation and ensure that the Australian gaffer has another high-potential midfield maestro in his squad soon as the club stays short in the options in the middle of the park.
Lo Celso to make way for a new midfielder
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s departure leaves only Yves Bissouma and Mate Mate Sarr at the base of the midfield, while Rodrigo Bentancur will be eased into the lineup following his extensive absence owing to injuries.
Giovani Lo Celso has also been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer, and the club has potentially identified Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey as a potential replacement for the Argentine. The club also offered Lo Celso as a part of the swap deal for Ramsey earlier this summer. He has also been linked with a move to MLS.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano insists that the club are looking to add a midfielder this summer, claiming that the potential departure of Lo Celso, complemented by Hojbjerg’s leaving, will push the North Londoners to invest formidable capital into the position this summer.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Givemesport, the Italian journalist said:
“I think they will look at something in the midfield. From what I’m hearing, they will consider other positions [than right-back].”
“So, let’s see in the midfield what happens. I think it’s also important to understand what’s going to happen with Lo Celso because if Lo Celso leaves after Hojbjerg, it could be the case for Tottenham to do something in that position.”
Tottenham signed Lo Celso in a £27.2m transfer, and the deal hasn’t worked out for either party. Now, the club will look to move on as Spurs enter a new season with renowned motivation.
