Robert Lewandowski has only been at FC Barcelona for two full seasons, but he’s already experienced a well-established Catalan tradition — getting absolutely pasted by Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Still, the 36-year-old hasn’t lost hope. If anything, he’s ready to even the score.
Speaking to the media in his home country of Poland, the former Bayern Munich striker seemed excited by the prospect of a reunion with his former teams.

Robert Lewandowski on facing Bayern and Dortmund in the Champions League: “I’m looking forward to these matches. The game against Bayern, or away in Dortmund. Especially the one with Bayern will be a different game to the one from two years ago. I’m definitely looking forward to these matches and it seems to me that looking back, this is a good draw and we’re very happy about it.”
Of course, Lewy would be psyched to face BVB — his record against them in the Bundesliga was nothing short of unfair. The same cannot be said about his dealings with Bayern Munich, in the league or otherwise. In 2022, the two sides faced off in the UCL group stages right after his sensational move to FC Barcelona that same summer. Lewandowski drew a blank in both games and his team suffered the ignominy of being booted to the Europa League.
Now, with a new coach in Hansi Flick, both Barca and Lewandowski seem rejuvenated — ironically, thanks to a coach that Bayern Munich outright rejected. Could Flick make the difference when the two sides meet each other again this year? Who knows — it would certainly mark a paradigm shift in the relative fortunes of the two FCBs.
IF it happens, of course.
