Julian Nagelsmann has revealed that he has plans for Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich in the Germany national team.
The newly appointed captain is slated to play as a right-back for the foreseeable future. The German coach emphasized (in a quote captured by @iMiaSanMia) that Kimmich will maintain this position primarily because of his strong performance during the EUROs. However, Nagelsmann also left the door open for potential adjustments, indicating that while right-back is the current plan, changes could be made depending on the team’s needs.
Kimmich, known for his versatility, has often been deployed as a central midfielder but excelled when moved to the right-back position during the European Championship. Nagelsmann’s decision suggests confidence in Kimmich’s ability to adapt and contribute effectively from the flank, a move that could also provide tactical flexibility for the squad. As the season progresses, it will be interesting to see how Kimmich’s role evolves under Nagelsmann’s management.
