Chelsea have been offered a further glimpse of future star Estevao Willian after he made history for Brazil.
The 17-year-old midfielder is set to make the move to Stamford Bridge before long – and Blues fans will be delighted by his promise.
Earlier in the summer, Chelsea agreed a deal with his club Palmeiras which will be worth around £56 million.
The youngster will remain in Brazil for this season before completing his move to the Premier League ahead of the 2025/26 season.
But the midfielder has continued to prove exactly why he caught the attention in the first place as he achieved a magnificent feat on the international stage which has put him into the record books.
Brazil secured a 1-0 victory in their World Cup qualifying game against Ecuador with the teenager starting the game on the bench.
Having received his first senior call-up a few weeks ago, the game signaled his first opportunity to get that all-important first international cap.
And before the game was out, Estevao was to find himself called upon.
It was a huge moment for him and the youngster was seen clutching his shirt to his face as he was clearly overcome with emotion just before he entered the pitch.
And given the scale of his achievement, it is no surprise how much it meant to him.
At the age of 17 years and 142 days, he became the second-youngest player in history to make their debut for Brazil since 2000.
Only Endrick – who made his debut at the age of 17 years and 118 days – has been of a younger age when picking up their first international cap since then.
Estevao took to Instagram after the game to try to sum up just how much the moment had meant to him.
“There are no explanations, it’s only God, all honour and glory be given to God,” Estevao he wrote.
“A day marked for the rest of my life, very happy to make my debut with the heaviest shirt in the world, only agent to God and my family.”
Estevao has been tipped to exceptional things by many.
And there is one name in particular who he will no doubt be absolutely delighted to have the backing of.
Back in June, he earned the praise of none other than Brazilian icon Neymar.
“He is a great talent that is emerging in Brazilian football today,” he said. “I think he’s going to be a genius.”
As for his role at Chelsea – Estevao’s agent has recently offered some insight as to what it was that had led the Blues to pursue the 17-year-old.
“He can adapt to any style of play,” Estevao’s representative Andre Cury told UOL in Brazil.
“Chelsea is a club that sees Estevao playing as a number ten, for us that is important. He can develop even more playing in the middle.”
