Real Madrid is well aware of Bayern munich star Joshua Kimmich’s contract situation.
A free agent at the end of this season, Kimmich could be the kind of inexpensive transfer the club needs to keep its books balanced for the 2025/26 season:
As revealed in a recent report by Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid are attentive to the situation of Joshua Kimmich.
The 29-year-old’s contract with the Bavarians ends next summer and his immediate future is still unclear. Bayern Munich are pushing to renew the veteran’s contract and will fight until the very end as they are with Davies. The player, however, is undecided and keeps his option and is willing to attempt to adapt to a new league.
Barcelona, as it stands, are well placed to land Kimmich given the presence of Hansi Flick at the helm. Should an economic battle emerge, however, Real Madrid will have the edge. Should Kimmich arrive, he will serve as a direct competitor to Aurelien Tchouameni in the defensive midfield but can also serve as a handy option at right-back.
Needless to say, it would be a win-win situation for Real Madrid who can kill two birds with one stone. Last season, Kimmich made 28 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern Munich, scoring one goal and providing six assists in the process. Further, he created 11 big chances and averaged 2.6 key passes per game.
This season, he has made two appearances for the club playing in midfield and appears to be a firm part of Vincent Kompany’s plans.
Kimmich’s future in Bavaria is open at the moment. He seems to want to stay with the club, but this is probably the last contract he will receive in his prime — and the last opportunity for him to really prove himself at another club if that is a venture he wants to take on.
Decisions…decisions…
Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala was named UEFA Nations League A — Player of the Round after his stunning performance in Germany’s 5-0 win over Hungary:
Joining Musiala on the Team of the Round were Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich, Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah and Florian Wirtz, and Arsenal FC’s Kai Havertz. Interestingly, former Bayern Munich prospect Joshua Zirkzee and alleged Bayern Munich transfer target Federico Dimarco were also on the squad:
Former Bayern Munich manager and current Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann led his team to a comprehensive victory over Hungary in the UEFA Nations League. In this episode, we discuss the following:
- The lineup and the stability it offered.
- Some mouthwatering combinations across the pitch, mainly Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz.
- Aleksandar Pavlović and the wonderful things he can do on the pitch.
- Appreciation for Niklas Füllkrug.
- Appreciation of fullbacks who like to go forward!
- What this performance shows about Bayern Munich and former Bayern Munich managers.
- The joy of watching Joshua Kimmich and thoughts on his captaincy.
- Why entertaining football is not just good for the fans.
Chelsea FC plans on making an attempt to lure Victor Osimhen to England in January:
Chelsea have already informed both Napoli and Victor Osimhen that they will return to try sign the striker in January. He would be keen to cut his loan with Galatasaray short if a deal can be agreed.
There is some speculation that Bayern Munich winger KIngsley Coman could be in line for a move this January, too. Manchester United could be an interested party if Coman opts to leave Bavaria:
Manchester United-linked Kingsley Coman’s future remains up in the air despite Bayern Munich failing to offload the Frenchman to Saudi Arabia this summer. The 28-year-old winger was the subject of serious interest from Al-Hilal in the prior window. However, the footballer’s refusal to make way to the Saudi Pro League meant that Jorge Jesus’ side was forced to move on to alternative targets.
That said, it doesn’t necessarily put to bed the prospect of a departure from Munich in the near future. Indeed, Premier League interest in the £33.7-42.1m (according to Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth, via PSG Talk) player could yet materialise in the winter window.
“If there will be a club willing to pay for him, and if it comes from the Premier League, I think both sides (Bayern and Coman) would be prepared to talk,” Christian Falk wrote in his Fact Files column for CaughtOffside. “There will always be rumours about Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United, so there are clubs interested in Coman if he’s not injured. If he’s playing very well in the lead-up to winter, I think a move could happen, as Bayern wants to sell him.”
Liverpool, one might reasonably imagine, will likely steer clear given their remarkable level of depth on the left flank (owing to the availability of Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz and new signing Federico Chiesa). There’s an argument, perhaps, to be made for the Reds’ arch-rivals, Manchester United. Erik ten Hag’s men can rely on one of Marcus Rashford or Alejandro Garnacho to feature on the left flank, though there are ongoing concerns over the former’s consistency.
Intriguingly, the French international’s representatives allegedly held talks with executives at the Red Devils, among other English top-flight outfits.
Coman may have struggled in recent times at Bayern, but he’s sure to still have one managerial admirer in former boss Hansi Flick. The now Barcelona boss spoke particularly fondly of his old protege following a 2020 clash with RB Leipzig (in quotes carried by GOAL): “We have four wingers of very good quality. At the moment Kingsley is the one who sets the tone, radiates a goal threat and assists.”
Bayern Munich has three real games under its belt with Vincent Kompany and there is plenty to analyze and discuss regarding those performances. So…let’s not waste any time and get right to discussing everything! Here is what we have on tap this episode of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show:
- Why we disagreed with Vincent Kompany’s approach for the first two Bundesliga games, why questioning the coach’s decision-making is not a bad thing, and how there can still be faith in a project despite having questions about it.
- In the end, we just want Kompany to avoid the same mistakes that felled both Julian Nagelsmann and Hansi Flick.
- Talking through four emerging storylines that we should get clarity in the coming weeks.
- Why Jamal Musiala not being on the Ballon d’Or list might not seem like a big deal to us, but could weigh heavily on the mind of the youngster.
At one point Barry Hepburn was a prized prospect on Celtic’s campus, who was ready to make a big jump — to Bayern Munich.
Hepburn never advance through the ranks like he hoped he would and now he is a free agent, just waiting for another chance. Sometimes, making a move like Hepburn did can backfire on a player:
Barry Hepburn’s move from Celtic to Bayern Munich and his current status as a free agent should be a warning to young players about the risks of leaving too early.
Hepburn left Celtic’s academy at just 16, lured by the prestige of Bayern, but things haven’t gone as planned. After a few appearances for Bayern’s second team and loan spells that didn’t lead to consistent game time, he’s now without a club at the age of 20.
Hepburn isn’t the only one. Liam Morrison, who also left Celtic for Bayern, recently moved to QPR, where he’s struggling to get game time. Ben Doak, another high-profile exit from Celtic’s academy to Liverpool, is also finding it tough to break through in one of the world’s most competitive teams.
These examples highlight a trend of young Scottish talent leaving Celtic before they are fully developed, only to face difficult transitions elsewhere.
Right now, players like Hepburn are showing that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, and Celtic should use this to encourage its rising stars to stay and develop at Parkhead.
Hopefully, Hepburn will be able to land on his feet and take another run at making a first team squad.
Manchester City is expected to empty its coffers for Rodri:
Man City plan to make Rodri one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League in order to fend off interest from Real Madrid.
The German national team is about to embark on a new era.
Former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann will attempt to figure out what he has with this group and also ponder a way to best position these players — while also figuring out what combinations might work best together.
