Ricci on Tottenham’s radar after impressive Italy performances
Tottenham Hotspur offloaded three midfielders this summer as they let Giovani Lo Celso, Oliver Skipp and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg depart without signing adequate replacements. Archie Gray was the only player who joined in the summer in the middle of the park and it is an area that Ange Postecoglou wants more depth in.
Chelsea star Conor Gallagher remain on Spurs’ radar as well during the summer but a move for him did not work out as he eventually decided to leave England altogether to pursue a career at Atletico Madrid. Their search for a midfielder is set to continue but they have recently come across a player who they were impressed with.
Football Insider has claimed that they are plotting a swoop for Torino youngster Samuele Ricci having been impressed with his display versus Israel in Italy’s Nations League clash last week, where their scouts were present. The 23-year-old is valued at £25 million but with a deal that expires in 2026, next summer could be a chance for Spurs to sign him at a bargain.
Ricci is earning only £30,000 per week at Torino, according to Capology, so personal terms will not at all prove to be an issue for Tottenham in their bid to land him. However, with the player rapidly progressing, there could be a queue of suitors particularly from the Serie A which emerges to sign him on a cut-price deal in 2025.

It remains to be seen how much Tottenham are willing to pay for his services but even if Ricci were to be sold for £25 million, the north Londoners would not be stretched financially in any way. They would have signed a fantastic and technically strong defensive midfielder in what could prove to be a steal if indeed he forges a successful career trajectory in the Premier League.
