As Bayern Munich rounds into its 2024/25 Champions League campaign, Vincent Kompany will face the same task his predecessors could not deliver on: a UCL trophy.
With this year’s final taking place in Munich, the stakes could not be higher.
But Kompany lives and breathes high stakes football.
“We shouldn’t overcomplicate things,” the 38-year-old expressed in a press conference at the end of August (as captured via @iMiaSanMia). “It’s about us wanting to win every game, so we would have a chance of winning titles. It’s also about the way we play football. We have many good players and the players are currently showing good energy. Hopefully that will continue over the entire season. The goals are very high, but that’s why we’re all here.”
Last season was several steps back for the Bavarians, as they failed to secure a single title after eleven straight seasons of winning the Bundesliga before that. Can Kompany deliver the goods — not just domestically but in European competition?
