Ange Postecoglou has come under scrutiny after Tottenham’s rocky start to the new season
Tottenham Hotspur have made a rocky start to the 2024/25 season. They have picked up four points from a possible 12 and were defeated 1-0 by bitterest rivals Arsenal at home on the weekend.
The Gunners were missing several key players when they made the short trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Without the likes of Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino, Mikel Arteta’s side were clearly not at their full strength. Yet, they managed to get the better of Tottenham
So, it is apparent pressure is starting to mount on Ange Postecoglou, who was sufficiently backed in the past summer transfer window by Daniel Levy.

After back-to-back defeats to Newcastle United and Arsenal respectively, former Spurs midfielder Jamie Redknapp has sent a stern warning to Ange Postecoglou.
“This time last year Spurs were fantastic to watch. We were all waxing lyrical about the manager and the free-flowing football,” Jamie Redknapp said on Sky Sports (h/t The Daily Mail).
“Right now it’s not free flowing. If you play well and don’t start winning then you get days like today where the quality drops.
“They need to pick up some results quickly. It’s a fact at this club if you’re not winning games you don’t get long and he needs to start winning some games.”
Tottenham brought in five exciting signings over the summer transfer window to help reshape Big Ange’s squad that had finished fifth in the Premier League last term. With the current squad, Daniel Levy will at least expect Big Ange to get into the top four and keep that Champions League cash rolling in, even though Spurs faithful deserve more after years of pain and misery.

As per transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano, the Greek-Australian tactician isn’t on thin ice under any circumstances or on the verge of getting sacked. There is a long-term project at White Hart Lane and the 59-year-old is very much central to it, even a few pundits and fans have started to ask questions about his credentials.
That being said, however, if results don’t improve and Spurs keep dropping points, Levy may be forced to wield the axe on Postecoglou. In the modern world of football, it is all about results business and if our gaffer fails to turn the club’s fortunes around quickly, he may unfortunately end up getting booted.
