Tottenham Hotspur have endured a difficult start to their Premier League campaign as Ange Postecoglou’s side have only accumulated four points in the opening four games of the English top tier. The most recent defeat came against an injury-delayed Arsenal at White Hart Lane, where Brazilian defender Gabriel netted the winner to take all three points and bragging rights back to N5.
This has left Spurs Australian head coach under massive pressure, especially considering the summer transfer business that the club enjoyed.
Spurs struggling, Bissouma’s return a lifeline?
Ange Postecoglou has an opportunity to get back to winning ways in the league cup, where the Lilywhites face Coventry City at CHS Arena, followed by a game against Brentford at the weekend.
The North Londoners have had a fair share of injury concerns in what is still a young season. Ange received much-welcoming news about Micky van de Ven and Dominic Solanke’s availability ahead of last weekend’s North London Derby match. However, he was handed fresh concerns over Yves Bissouma’s injury during the international break.
The Mali international apparently suffered a groin tweak, per the Evening Standard. The former Brighton midfielder pooled Richarlison to the injury table, joining the Brazilian star who has only played 25 minutes of football this season.
Ange Postecoglou will be hoping to get another injury double boost going into the games this week as he prepares a run of fixtures every three days or so. Tottenham are scheduled to play six games in just three weeks time.
When will Bissouma & Richarlison be back for Spurs?
While the Coventry City game comes a tad too soon, Bissouma will be expected to be back in the weekend’s fixture against Brentford, per the Evening Standard. The reports go on to suggest that Rhicarlison’s returning date is not clear, with Ange confirming the uncertainty behind his return, stating “still a while, mate, yeah” and that “he’s in rehab, and we are going to take it a bit conservative with him.”.
Evening
Standard goes on to predict that Richy should also return for Spurs soon.
For Bissouma, he will walk into the eleven once he returns. Archie Gray will be breathing on his shoulders, especially if he impresses against Coventry City in the mid-week.
