Paris Saint-Germain could be breathing a sigh of relief as Real Madrid look to pursue other right-back targets besides Achraf Hakimi.
In June, The Athletic’s Mario Cortegana revealed that Real Madrid are considering Hakimi as Dani Carvajal’s long-term replacement. Additionally, the Spanish side see the Moroccan as a strong candidate for their right-back position.
Moreover, Cortegana noted that Hakimi is an ideal target because he came through their youth system, has a close connection with Kylian Mbappé, and is under contract until 2026. As a result, he’d have one year left on his current deal after this season.
Nonetheless, it seems the Spanish side are keen on a couple of English players to fill that right-back spot long-term. TEAMtalk reports that Real Madrid will move for Liverpool standout Trent Alexander-Arnold next summer, having been in contact with his agents for several years.

This news follows HITC’s report this week that Real Madrid is gearing up to make major changes to its defense over the next 12 to 18 months. The report states that the club is a big admirer of Reece James and views him as a potential option for their next right-back.
