Bayern Munich was relentless in the home victory over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, finding the back of the net nine times. Harry Kane (4), Michael Olise (2), Raphaël Guerreiro, Leroy Sané, and Leon Goretzka all got in on the action.
Joshua Kimmich didn’t score but did record two assists. This is an impressive achievement on its own, considering how deep Kimmich usually plays within the current offense.
Kimmich has been the source of much controversy as he has been constantly linked to former coaches, especially Pep Guardiola at Manchester City and Hansi Flick at Barcelona.
In his postgame interview with Maximilian Koch, Kimmich simply said, “It’s always nice when the club is behind you.”
Kimmich went on to deflect the attention toward substitutes Sané and Goretzka. Kimmich said, “Both of them were rewarded with a goal straight away. It is important that we have a lot of guys who are excited.”
Kimmich clearly has his sights set on gathering as many trophies as he can this season. His selfless leadership will continue to pay dividends as the matches start to stack up.
