When one arrives at Werner-Heisenberg-Allee 25D-80939 München, one arrives at the stadium of Bayern Munich, the Allianz Arena. The white stadium dwarfs anything in the surrounding area, perpetuating an aura of pristine quality. But the stadium is not defined by superficial quality, either. There is no better demonstration of this than the recent ratification of Bayern’s request to change the name of the address of the Allianz Arena. @iMiaSanMia captures what will shortly be its new name:
The city of Munich has approved renaming the address of the Allianz Arena and the area in front of the stadium ‘Franz-Beckenbauer-Platz 5’, in tribute to the late Franz Beckenbauer.
“He’s one of the greatest athletes our city has ever produced,” said Munich’s mayor Dieter Reiter.
It is a welcome tribute to not just one of the most defining footballers of his generation but of all time, who tragically passed away in January of 2024.
