If a team endures a terrible run of form, then sacking the coach is a viable option if that club wants to turn their fortunes around. In the case of Dinamo Zagreb coach Sergej Jakirović, that was his fate as he was given the sack by his club after a crushing 9-2 defeat to Bayern Munich on the first day of the Champions League:
This is not the first time that Bayern handed out a defeat to another team which culminated in sacking their coach. Tottenham Hotspur and their then-coach Mauricio Pochettino were on the wrong end of a 7-2 beatdown by the mighty Bavarians, and were winless in the next five league games before the Argentinian was dismissed.
That’s not to say that it doesn’t happen to the Rekordmeister as well. Niko Kovać lost 5-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt in November 2019 and was sacked, replaced by Hansi Flick (now at FC Barcelona).
