Alphonso Davies has been Bayern Munich’s star man at the left back position, but recently, his future at the club has been in doubt.
Christoph Freund, sporting director at Bayern, recently gave us an update about the Canadian’s situation at the club (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). While the update did not reveal too much, an optimist can take away a little hope: “There’s nothing new. He should first play good football. We know how good he is. He’s training well and is fit. That’s important. Otherwise there’s nothing new.”
Davies is indeed playing good football, as of now, as seen in his performance against Bayern’s demolishing of Dinamo Zagreb. He played the full 90 minutes, and put in one of his best performances.
Does this mean the Canadian captain is on his way to a solid future at Säbener Straße? Or is Freund simply leading us on just to then sell him off like Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui? It is yet to be revealed, under this new confusing transfer regime at the club.
