During Bayern Munich’s win over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, Manuel Neuer had to be subbed off at half-time, causing much alarm over the 38-year-old’s fitness. The Bavarians are now set to take on Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga, but Neuer is still a doubt for that match. Vincent Kompany provided a little update on that.
“He will train today and then we will decide”, the Belgian manager said (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “He has a lot of experience, so we’ll speak after training and decide. We just didn’t want to take any unnecessary risks. But it’s looking good”.
Sven Ulreich finished that UCL match for the Rekordmeister and might have to take to the field again if Neuer has to sit this one out. Neuer left Germany with Marc-André ter Stegen which isn’t confidence inspiring, and each passing day just proves how hard it is to replace someone like Neuer.
