While Chelsea are still waiting for Enzo Maresca to do his usual Friday press conference ahead of the game this weekend, Brighton coach Fabian Hurzeler did his presser this morning.
He spoke plenty about Chelsea, with the in form Nicolas Jackson getting particular attention from the German.
“I think he is the full package. He wants to combine. Sometimes he’s getting more space where he can combine with his teammates,” the young manager explained.
“He’s also very fast – he can attack the defence. This mix, this balance, makes him very dangerous for us. Of course, he is a top striker and at the moment he’s in very good shape, so you can’t defend against them in a one-against-one.”
It sounds like Hurzeler is planning to double up on Jackson – a valid tactic, but one which will only produce more space out wide for the likes of Jadon Sancho and Noni Madueke. The pressing style Brighton favour should mean plenty of space for our attackers in any case.
Jackson ready to continue journey to the top
It’s great to see Jackson getting more widespread recognition from the league and from the media in general. He’s got his flaws, but Chelsea fans have been able to see the positives since the day he arrived, and over time he’s showing more of the latter and less of the former.
As the team behind him comes together, he should be able to spend more and more time doing what he’s good at, and we fancy his chances of scoring this weekend when we take on the Seagulls.
The Senegal star has started the season really well, and should be in the perfect position to continue establishing himself among the league’s best strikers.
