Son speaks highly of Tottenham’s Kulusevski
Tottenham Hotspur are set to open their Europa League campaign against Azerbaijani side Qarabag and will be one of the favourites to end their lengthy run without a piece of silverware by winning the continental competition in Bilbao in May next year.
Their captain, Son Heung-min, spoke to the media in a press conference ahead of the match and heaped praise on his teammate Dejan Kulusevski. talkSPORT quoted him as saying:
“Deki is the kind of guy who wants to be in the middle, that he can handle the ball really well with the back of the opponent. That’s his game and his joy now. He’s having a great season. Everybody is talking about how Deki’s work rate is unbelievable. He’s everywhere on the pitch. I think people have never seen that. Deki works really hard. I think it’s so hard when I see all the data and sometimes I get shocked. It feels like he never stops running.”
Kulusevski has indeed been among the best Tottenham players in recent months and particularly under Ange Postecoglou, the Swede’s performances have entered a new dimension. This season, he is once again in for a pivotal role especially in the team’s quest of a Europa League title.
So far in the campaign, he has already played in midfield as well as on the right flank by adapting to both roles to very good measure. Having said that, he has been inefficient in front of goal by what is expected of him but even without finding the back of the net, he has been a differential.
Kulusevski’s performances and importance to Tottenham Hotspur did not go unnoticed as he captained the Swedish national side for the very first time earlier this month in their UEFA Nations League fixture against Azerbaijan and Estonia.
At only 24 and with a relatively low wage of just £110,000 per week, the former Juventus superstar is improving at a very commendable rate season after season and it will be interesting to see where exactly his future lies with interest in his services likely to be imminent going forward.

For now, however, he is very much a Tottenham player and could enter their history books with a record-breaking season and crucial role in their quest to win a piece of silverware after several years.
