At this point, it is an open secret. Bayern Munich communicated to Kingsley Coman that they were open to letting him leave and the Frenchman came close to leaving before eventually deciding to remain in Munich…for some reason. But why? It has taken a while but, nearly a month after any potential move collapsed and the transfer window slammed shut, Coman has given a little insight as to why he stayed.
Speaking to journalist Kilian Kreitmair, and captured by @iMiaSanMia, Coman had this to say: “We spoke to clubs in different situations. In the end I decided that it was best to stay.”
It seems there simply was no option better than the current imperfect one at Bayern. That does mean that there is potential for the situation to change and for a better destination to crop up for the former Juventus player, whether in the winter transfer window or the next summer transfer window. Or perhaps Coman will fight his way back into head coach Vincent Kompany’s plans? We will have to wait and see…
