Ange Postecoglou full of praise for Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur claimed a fabulous 3-0 win over Manchester United in the Premier League on matchday six as goals from Brennan Johnson, Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski gave the north Londoners a very easy but famous win at Old Trafford.
Ange Postecoglou was extremely happy with the way his team played and made his feelings known in the press conference after the match. The former Celtic boss was quoted saying the following by Daily Mail when he was asked for his verdict on Spurs’ performance.
“It was an outstanding performance. We started the game really well, scored a great goal and probably should have had two or three. Then just the pressure I think overwhelms them and they get a red card. After that, again, we controlled the game really well. An outstanding effort from all the lads.”
Indeed, Tottenham Hotspur put in their best performance of 2024/25 so far and one of their very best under Postecoglou. They were all over Manchester United with their pressure on the opposition being an extremely telling factor in Bruno Fernandes’ sending off.
At the same time, Spurs’ finishing left a bit to be desired with Postecoglou not hiding the fact that his team should have scored a few more goals. Timo Werner was especially wasteful in front of goal as he missed two big chances in what was a rather disappointing display from the German.
Their win over Manchester United will provide Tottenham with a very big morale boost as well and help them contend for a top four spot with more vigour over the remainder of the season. With that said, another difficult fixture awaits them next weekend against Brighton & Hove Albion.
