Vincent Kompany returns to the England for the first time since taking over Bayern Munich (unless you count friendlies) to face Unai Emery and Aston Villa. At stake is three points and a significant amount of bragging rights.
Bayern have some history with Emery, having been knocked out by his Villarreal team during the 2022 Champions League quarter finals. Maybe that’s why everyone seems to be taking this game very seriously this time round. Or maybe it’s the prospect of having to play without Harry Kane, or the fact that this will be Vincent Kompany’s first real test against a defensively stout team at the international level.
