Ally McCoist has remained coy on swapping the talkSPORT studio for the Australian jungle amid rumours of a shock I’m A Celebrity appearance.
Rumours have emerged that the Rangers legend and talkSPORT co-host is in talks to feature in the latest series of the hit ITV show.
According to reports, ITV bosses are claimed to be ‘very hopeful’ that it will be third time lucky in their bid to get the 62-year-old to sign on.
McCoist previously turned down their advances in both 2019 and 2022, where he revealed at the time he wouldn’t be able to handle the creepy-crawlies.
And talkSPORT Breakfast co-hosts Gabby Agbonlahor and Alan Brazil were quick to challenge their colleague on whether he has had a change of heart.
Aston Villa cult hero Aghbonlahor demanded to know if there is any truth in the newspaper rumours.
He joked that he’s heard whispers that the ex-Sunderland forward may soon be going on vacation – much to the disapproval of Ipswich icon Brazil.
Through laughter, McCoist stated: “Hey, listen, don’t you start winding me up, you two!
“You’ve been to Spain more recently than I have.”
Quick to hit back, Brazil replied: “Oh you’re having a laugh! No I have not!”
He then quipped: “You’ll be an American Express platinum ambassador the way you’re going!”
Agbonlahor refused to give up on his original question, asking again about the popular show, leading to an eight-word response from McCoist.
He simply said: “No, I don’t know, I don’t think so.”
It led Agbonlahor to say: “You don’t know? Whoa, whoa, whoa, you don’t know? That’s not a no!”
McCoist then quipped: “To be fair Gab, I could do with losing a stone-and-a-half, couldn’t I?”
Having the final say, Brazil, who sent his colleagues into fits of laughter, then joked: “Well I didn’t want to bring that up…
“But I’m going to have a bet on you Ally… [for you] not to turn up.”
McCoist previously revealed that he is a huge fan of the TV programme – insisting his wife would love being put up in a five-star hotel during his stint in the jungle.
He said in 2019: “My wife is not giving a monkey’s about me eating spiders and earwigs, she is just wanting a two stretch in that Versace hotel.
“It’s the biggest thing we watch as a family, it’s brilliant entertainment.”
He even admitted his children refused to speak to him after he turned the show down, stating: “The kids aren’t talking to me at all.
“The younger ones would love it and the older ones would love it as well. They are going to school and they are getting it off their pals.”
With I’m A Celebrity to return in November, it remains to be seen whether McCoist will be gracing our screen.
