Thomas Tuchel and Thomas Frank both have admirers on the Manchester United board, talkSPORT understands.
Tuchel and Brentford boss Frank are among the potential candidates if United decide to part company with under-pressure Erik ten Hag.
The Premier League giants are holding pre-planned summit meetings over the next 48 hours, with Ten Hag’s future expected to be high on the agenda.
Former Chelsea boss Tuchel held talks with United in the summer but had reservations about the club’s recruitment plans.
Ex-England boss Gareth Southgate is also known to be regarded highly by United minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS group and sporting director Dan Ashworth.

Ten Hag has overseen United’s worst ever start to a Premier League season following Sunday’s 0-0 draw at Aston Villa.
They have won just eight points from their opening seven matches and sit 14th in the table, six points outside of the top four.
When asked about speculation over his future, Ten Hag said: “That is, maybe you can think it’s unfair. It’s some bringing the criticism but in the club we are together.
“We know the process, where we are going. We made the decision only because the ownership, leadership, staff, players, they are all together.
“We are in this process and we keep improving this process and we are convinced we will be successful in the end of this.”
Should United part ways with Ten Hag and appoint Tuchel, the German would return to management after his summer departure from Bayern Munich.
Tuchel has a track record of success in Europe thanks to two Ligue 1 titles with Paris Saint-Germain, a Champions League win at Chelsea and Bundesliga triumph with Bayern among other honours.
Brentford chief Frank has been one of the Premier League’s most impressive head coaches in recent seasons having successfully kept them in the top flight since their promotion in 2021.
The Dane was linked with the Chelsea vacancy in the summer after they mutually parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino, although Enzo Maresca was their eventual replacement.
Former England boss Southgate was a speculated option for United before taking the Three Lions to Euro 2024.
Despite this, he remained focussed on the approaching task at hand with his country as he said in May: “Well, for me, it’s not an issue and never has been.
“I have to deliver a successful tournament for England and there’s enough work involved in that. I think everybody would expect that’s where my focus should be.”
Southgate left the England job just two days after their 2-1 defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.
United’s first game back after the international break comes at home to Brentford on October 19.
This will mark 32 days since their last win in all competitions, their 7-0 thrashing of Barnsley in the Carabao Cup.
They will then travel to Fenerbahce, live on talkSPORT, in search of their first Europa League victory of the season.
