Lee Carsley has said Bukayo Saka is being assessed after he hobbled off during England’s 2-1 defeat to Greece.
Saka hobbled off the field in the 51st minute of the Three Lions’ clash against Greece and was replaced by Noni Madueke.
The 23-year-old appeared to be clutching at his right hamstring as he walked off the pitch with two of England’s medical staff alongside him.
Saka’s substitution took place directly after Greece took a shock lead via Vangelis Pavlidis’ assured finish following some poor defending by England.
When asked about Saka’s injury post-match, Carsley said: “He’s being assessed, he felt something in his leg.”
Jude Bellingham thought he had rescued England a point when he equalised after 87 minutes.
But it was Pavlidis who popped up again with a late winner in the fourth minute of stoppage time to leave Carsley’s side three points off top spot.
Should Saka be sidelined, it would mark the second-straight international window in which an Arsenal star was injured.
Gunners skipper Martin Odegaard sustained an ankle injury while on international duty with Norway, forcing him to miss Arsenal’s last seven games.
However, the Norwegian was recently filmed running on a treadmill, sparking hope among fans his return is imminent.
Summer recruit Riccardo Calafiori went down with a calf injury in Italy’s clash against France in the last break but only missed the north London derby.
Saka has started every game across all competitions for Arsenal this season, underlining his importance to the team.
The 23-year-old has been in fine form for the Gunners too, registering seven assists in the Premier League from as many games.
He produced a man-of-the-match display in Arsenal’s final game before the international break as Arteta’s side came back to beat Southampton 3-1.
Saka had a hand in all three of Arsenal’s goals, scoring one and assisting two others as the win ensured the Gunners went into the break sitting third on the ladder with 17 points.
He missed only two league fixtures last season due to injury, although Arsenal managed to win both of them, one of which was a gritty 1-0 win over Manchester City.
