Reece James is fully focused on Chelsea according to reports after recently being linked with moves to both Barcelona and Benfica.
James hasn’t played for Chelsea since May and has been plagued by injury issues over the past two seasons, with the 24-year-old sidelined for almost five months last season with a hamstring injury which he had surgery on.
Despite being suspended for the first three games of the season it was expected that James would be fit for the start of the season, but that hasn’t proven to be the case.
James fully focused on Chelsea
Having featured prominently in pre-season as he built up his fitness and match sharpness, James suffered what was described as a minor hamstring issue in training upon Chelsea’s return from America.
However, he’s still yet to feature for the Blues this season and Enzo Maresca himself recently admitted he didn’t know when James would be back.
Journalist Matt Law reported James is set to return to full training this week barring any set backs and it appears a return to action is getting closer.
However, some recent reports have linked James with a move to Barcelona or Benfica, but GIVEMESPORT have reported the right back is fully focused on returning to Chelsea’s first team.
The report adds that James is happy at Stamford Bridge and there’s no substance to any links to Barcelona or Benfica, with the Chelsea captain currently working on his training plan to get back to full fitness.
Chelsea are rightly being very cautious with James as they don’t want him to suffer any setbacks when he does return to action.
James desperately needs to stay fit for as much of the season as possible and when he is at his best and fully fit he’s one of, if not the best right back in the world.
The academy graduate will need to displace Malo Gusto on his return to action, with the Frenchman really impressing in James’ absence and the Blues arguably have two of Europe’s best right backs on their books.
