Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich is a man who will play wherever his team needs him to — and that has made him all the better.
After spending the first part of calendar year 2024 playing right-back for club and country, Kimmich is finding himself back in midfield under new Bayern coach Vincent Kompany.
That suits him just fine — but his versatility as a player cannot be separated from his current role, nor to his approach to the game.
The 29-year-old is loving life under Kompany, though.
“The coach’s ideas are very beneficial to me,” Kimmich said in his September BR24 interview (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I can bring my strengths to the pitch in the way he wants to play football. Of course I notice that he sees me in midfield. Nevertheless, I would never say that the right-back position is history for me. Especially in the national team, I still play as a right-back. I see it as a big strength, or rather it has brought me to where I am today, that I can play in several positions.”
Wherever Kimmich is playing, the Germany captain looks to end up right in the thick of the action.
