Motivation in Munich could hardly be higher right now. After Bayern Munich’s trophyless 2023/24 campaign, all the superstars so accustomed to winning silverware are raring to go and make up for last season’s failures. However, there can never be enough reason to be motivated if you ask new head coach Vincent Kompany. It seems that Kompany is setting some very ambitious targets to reach, as @iMiaSanMia captures:
Kompany wants the maximum from his players – and in order to motivate them, he shows them club records to target: for example the record 91 points from the treble season under Jupp Heynckes or the 17 goals conceded in the entire 2015/16 Bundesliga season under Pep Guardiola
Detractors will certainly note that Guardiola never conceded three goals in one match in the Bundesliga as Bayern did in a recent 3-3 draw against Frankfurt and ridicule the idea that Bayern Munich’s defense would hold up enough to concede just 17 goals an entire season long, let alone beat Josef Heynckes’ legendary 2013 points tally. However, Josep’s Bayern never scored nine goals against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, did they? Perhaps Kompany should challenge the team to break a goalscoring record?
