Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund is ready to see his club take on FC Barcelona in the Champions League.
“It’s a real top game between two teams in very good form. Both teams play very offensively, very actively going forward. I think we can look forward to a very attractive football game,” said Freund (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “We’re not even looking at the table right now. It’s a special format, new for everyone. Only two matchdays have been played, and after the first matchday we were still first. We’re flying to Barcelona and our big goal is to take home the three points – regardless of the table.
”Hansi Flick was extremely successful in Munich. He had a very close relationship with the players, many of whom also played under him in the national team. It will be a very special game. So many are looking forward to seeing him again.”
One matchup that everyone will be monitoring is Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane vs FC Barcelona striker — and former Bayern star — Robert Lewandowski.
“Both are in good form, both are exceptional strikers and have already achieved a lot. They are outstanding players in their own way,” said Freund.
As for Jamal Musiala, Freund said the youngster will travel with the team, but would not commit to much else.
“He’s travelling with us. That’s already very, very important. We’ll see how long he will be on the pitch,” Freund told Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
