After rumors linking him to Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Liverpool FC, Arsenal FC, Real Madrid, and FC Barcelona have been swirling for months, it appears that Joshua Kimmich and Bayern Munich could be lining up for a contract extension, which should satisfy both parties.
Kimmich could be set to agree on a contract extension in the coming weeks, but might not actually sign anything until January:
Bayern are now confident to get new deal agreement done with Joshua Kimmich.
Negotiations are underway and he’s now more open to discuss compared to last season.

Kimmich also addressed the issue at his press conference on Tuesday — and was asked about a potential move to FC Barcelona.
”Everyone knows I’m in talks with the club. What I discuss with the club remains internal. I won’t talk about it in a press conference,” said Kimmich (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I’m not thinking about (a move to FC Barcelona). But you should never rule anything out in life and also in football.”
Finally, Sport Bild’s Tobi Altschäffl and Christian Falk chimed in with their information on the situation (via @iMiaSanMia):
Joshua Kimmich is in good talks with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund over a new contract, but the salary still has to be discussed. Kimmich currently earns €15m base salary plus €5m in bonuses. The club would like to lower it, but that could be difficult since Kimmich is back to being a crucial player under Vincent Kompany. Kimmich still has no agent. He represents himself in the negotiations and only gets help from a lawyer to review the contract in the end.
Not all fans are going to be thrilled with this news. Kimmich’s detractors have been vocal, but they might also need to get used to the thought that he will be with the club for another three or four years.
Liverpool FC wants to keep Trent Alexander-Arnold, but Real Madrid is making the English club sweat a bit given its pursuit of the player:
Liverpool will do all they can to keep hold of defender Trent Alexander-Arnold amid interest from Real Madrid, according to the Times.
It is reported that the Premier League club are aiming to keep the 26-year-old on Merseyside despite claims that Los Blancos are confident of securing his signature.
Just over two months remain before he will be able to discuss a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of the Premier League, but manager Arne Slot doesn’t think his vice-captain is distracted by links to the Santiago Bernabeu, with his focus solely on his performances for Liverpool.
Negotiations over a renewal at Anfield are believed to be continuing, and the latest indicates that the Reds could be willing to make him among their highest earners to keep him at the club and avoid losing him on a free transfer.
Alexander-Arnold scored for England during the 3-1 Nations League win over Finland last week, and is in-line to star in the Premier League against Chelsea on Sunday.
Welcome back to episode 7 of the Bundesliga Rundown with Marcus Iredahl!
The Bundesliga is starting to take shape as we gear up for another round of European competitions. Matchday 7 saw Bayern Munich return to winning ways, Leverkusen once again benefited from a stroke of luck, and Dortmund narrowly edged out FC St. Pauli.
Additionally, this episode will cover:
- Why RB Leipzig may be Bayern Munich’s strongest title contender this season.
- Why Ole Werner might be one of the most underrated and tactically unique coaches in the Bundesliga.
- Why Jürgen Klopp’s Red Bull partnership feels like a major disappointment for football purists.
Could Bayern Munich be thinking about a pursuit of Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford? At least one report indicates that Bayern Munich could compete with Paris Saint-Germain for Rashford:
Last week, TEAMTalk reported that Paris Saint-Germain have renewed their interest in Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, but the hurdles blocking a summer transfer for the winger remain in place.
Moreover, the reporting reveals that the Ligue 1 team are still considering swooping for Rashford next year. Over the last couple of transfer windows, rumors of the Parisians’ interest in the Englishman have emerged and next year could be the time that a transfer occurs.
Still, there are hurdles as the winger has a £325,000-a-week contract and PSG will need to determine if those are the wages they want to pay for a player who wouldn’t be a guaranteed starter.
TEAMtalk adds the latest on the future of Rashford as the January transfer window approaches. Their reporting, citing sources, suggests it’s not impossible for Rashford to leave Old Trafford.
PSG remain in the mix, aiming to secure a statement signing. However, they aren’t the only club interested—Bayern Munich and Olympique Marseille are also keen to explore a potential move if Manchester United gives the green light.
Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has publicly stated that Rashford remains a crucial part of the club’s project and has no plans to sell him. However, if the Dutchman goes before this season is over, it could be an opening for PSG to revisit their interest in Rashford.
This is not the first time that Bayern Munich has been linked to Rashford…would you be a fan of the move?
FC Barcelona really wants Manchester City star Erling Haaland…but if the Catalans cannot pry him away from City, they would look toward Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez:
Barcelona have made Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez their top alternative target if they fail to sign Erling Haaland from Manchester City next summer. Alexander Isak of Newcastle United is their third-choice target.
Few things are inevitable in football, but Bayern Munich vs FC Barcelona has certainly felt that way in recent years. The two FCBs have an incredibly lopsided record in the UEFA Champions League, with Bayern not just winning games, but winning them by some margin, year after year, ad nauseam.
The links between these two clubs are numerous — Barca employ former Bayern Munich men in both Robert Lewandowski and Hansi Flick. Flick especially was considered for the coaching position at Bayern before Vincent Kompany was hired. That makes this game more emotionally charged than usual.
In this episode, INNN and Michael discuss the following:
- Who should be on the starting lineup? Should Thomas Müller play? Does Serge Gnabry keep starting?
- Who are the most dangerous players on the Barca side? Lamine Yamal vs Jamal Musiala, and the curious case of Raphinha.
- How Barca’s attack stacks up against the Bayern Munich defense.
- Why Bayern has an advantage attacking the Barca defense.
- Discussing the two strikers — Harry Kane vs Robert Lewandowski. Who is better?
- What if Vincent Kompany loses? Where do we go next?
Former Real Madrid and German national team midfielder Toni Kroos is not thinking about becoming a manager…at least not now:
Despite being linked to Arsenal FC and a host of others, Dušan Vlahović could re-up with Juventus:
– Juventus want to sign Dušan Vlahović to a new contract amid interest from Arsenal, according to Calciomercato. It is reported that there remains some distance with the 24-year-old’s representatives, who are looking for an offer worth €10 million-per-season, and despite reports indicating that interest for his signature could surface in January, it is said that the Bianconeri have no plans to part ways with him when the winter transfer window opens.
Bayern Munich fended off a frustrating first half to put forth a dominant effort in the second half to secure a 4-0 victory over visiting VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.
The Bavarians used three second half goals from Harry Kane and one more from Kingsley Coman to race from VfB stuttgart, who looked worn down by the Bavarians throughout the final 45 minutes.
There is a lot to talk about, so let’s get to it. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:
- A look at the starting XI.
- A rundown of the substitutes and scoring.
- What we learned from this match about both teams.
