Chelsea are getting ready travel to Greece this Thursday evening to face Panathinaikos in the next match of their Europa Conference League campaign.
Panathinaikos are currently in 6th place in the Greek Super League after 8 games played, and they aren’t quite at the dizzy heights that this club have been used to being at in previous years.
BIG EXCLUSIVE!! Chelsea exploring ambitious move to sign Manchester City centre back as well as watching TWO Benfica defenders!!
So far this season they have won 3, drawn 3, and lost 2 in the league, and are very much stuttering.
However, they are a big club and play in a huge stadium that can sit almost 70,000 people, and they have had success in their past.
They have won the Greek league 20 times in their history, but the most recent title win came back in the 2009-10 season, and they have been on a bit of a downfall since then.
Unpredictable game
These types of games are always going to be unpredictable, but Chelsea should have more than enough to go there and do the job even if it will be a tough game away from home and Enzo Maresca will be lining up with his ‘second string’ starting Xl.
However, there is one player who I believe could start the game and has now become mostly part of this ‘second string’ starting Xl for Chelsea, Enzo Fernandez.
Enzo has dropped behind both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, at least judging by the starting Xl against Liverpool on Sunday night. If Enzo was fully fit and not starting that game, one of the most important games of the season so far for Maresca and Chelsea, then that tells me he is now behind Caicedo, Lavia, and Cole Palmer in Chelsea’s best Xl in midfield.
So I believe this is why Enzo Fernandez will start in midfield for Chelsea against Panathinaikos this coming Thursday evening.
