As expected. Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich was frustrated and dejected after his team dropped a 4-1 decision to FC Barcelona in the Champions League.
“Of course we have to analyze this game. But I’m calm because I’m confident in the way we’re playing football. They did not outplay us. We’re on a good path,” Kimmich told kicker journalist Georg Holzner, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “A big defeat. We got off to a bad start, but then managed to equalize and had control of the game until we conceded a second, which was a foul [on Kim] in my opinion. We conceded a third just before half time which hurt us. We lost a bit of patience and control.
“We made mistakes and Barcelona were able to get out of the press easier, which resulted in the goals. I feel 4-1 overall wasn’t a fair result given the course of the game, but we deserved to lose.”
Where does Bayern Munich go from here? Kimmich and the fellas will have to figure that out — and in a hurry. A date with a reeling VfL Bochum side awaits…and there might not be a better “get right” opponent available.
Talk about good timing…
