Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabián Ruiz cannot translate his form with Spain’s national team to the Parisians. Ruiz was a standout for La Roja at UEFA Euro 2024, and it’s continuing into the UEFA Nations League competition.
However, the midfielder cannot have that impact with PSG, and so many wonder if the Ligue 1 side could sell while the player’s stock is high. Moreover, Spanish outlets have suggested that the top clubs in the country could be interested in him.
“Real Madrid likes him and he would be interested in going there,” Eduardo Inda said last month. “He’s a footballer who wants to leave his current club because his relationship with the coach is bad.”
Diario SPORT also reported last month that Barcelona is considering a move for Ruiz and may offer Frenkie De Jong to PSG as part of the deal. While these offers could entice the French giants, given the approaching January window, they don’t seem willing to sell.
Fabián Ruiz is not for sale despite rumors
Journalist Laurent Perrin notes that Ruiz isn’t for sale and hints that the club want the entire season to see if they can tap into the form he shows with Spain.
“What is the real level of Fabian Ruiz, the one from the Euros or the one from PSG? The debate remains open,” Perrin noted (h/t Le10Sport). “But he is not for sale. Luis Enrique likes him a lot and played him frequently at the end of last season.
“If he performs better with Spain, it is probably because he has much more freedom in his play. He seems more at ease, more fulfilled. With La Roja, he takes on responsibilities that he seems to shy away from in Paris.”
Nonetheless, there’s a risk that his value will drop as top European clubs lose interest. It will be interesting to see if this gamble for the Parisians works out.
