This summer, there were rumors that Paris Saint-Germain was eyeing Lamine Yamal as a potential successor to Kylian Mbappé. However, FC Barcelona is focused on securing the teenager with a contract extension and a salary that will keep him content and fend off interest from other clubs.
Mundo Deportivo reported during the summer that PSG was ready to break its own transfer record, offering as much as €250 million—surpassing the €222 million they spent before—to sign Yamal.
According to MARCA, the Spanish club is preparing a huge new contract for him. Yamal will turn 18 on July 13, 2025, and once he’s of legal age, he could sign an extension with Barça until 2030, which would come with a substantial pay raise.
Barcelona have no plans to sell Lamine Yamal
Recently, Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly interested in Yamal. Given Barcelona’s ongoing financial troubles, there are reports suggesting that the club might consider selling their prized asset.
Nonetheless, TBR Football reported on Saturday, citing sources, that Barcelona has no intention of letting Yamal go. In fact, claims that he could be sold are completely unfounded.
Barcelona are set to return to their iconic Camp Nou in 2025 after two years of renovations. With the stadium’s capacity increasing to over 100,000, the La Liga giants feel optimistic about improving their financial situation. As a result, they may not have to entertain offers for their star players anytime soon.
