One Chelsea player has been speaking about his first experience being called up in to the first team under Enzo Maresca last week.
It’s every football fans dream as a kid to one day play professional football, and to then be able to do it for the club you support as well, is just unreal and often unheard of. But not unheard of for everyone.

For some young kids they do make it, they do reach those dreams and it becomes reality. It hasn’t yet become reality for Chelsea academy player Shumaira Mheuka, but he has just come very close and it wont be long before he does get that senior appearance.
Mheuka was in the match day squad for Chelsea for the very first time as The Blues beat Panathinaikos in Greece last week in the Europa Conference League.
The youngster, who has only just turned 17, got a call up into the senior squad by Enzo Maresca, and he got the experience of travelling abroad with the rest of the senior squad and although he didn’t get on the pitch, it was great for him to even get a a call and be part of a match day squad with the rest of the senior players.
Intense game
The atmosphere over there was always going to be tough, but Chelsea’s players blocked it out to go on and win the game.
The young striker told the Chelsea website this week:
‘Being with the men’s team was amazing, I could hardly believe it! Supporting Chelsea as a kid, it feels surreal to now be around top players, wearing the badge and gaining experience in intense atmospheres. Those moments shape who you’ll become as a player.
‘The energy in the stadium was intense, with fans yelling and even pointing lasers at me, but I enjoyed every second. Playing at that level is incredible and I hope there’s more to come.’
