Bayern Munich’s strategic vision for its roster can sometimes appear to be…all over the place.
After giving midfielder Leon Goretzka every indication that he was a surplus piece and not necessarily needed any more, club sporting director Christoph Freund indicated that — maybe — the talk was just a bit premature.
Goretzka turned in a solid performance in Bayern Munich’s 1-0 victory over St Pauli on Saturday and Freund was asked if the midfielder still had a future in Bavaria after the match.
“You can see that. If we didn’t need him, he wouldn’t play. Leon is a Bayern player, he’s doing really well and was important again today,” Freund told Bild’s Michel Schröer (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Sometimes…it just seems like things are a bit fickle in the executive offices at Säbener Straße.
