Following the League Cup victory at Villa Park last month which has had a lasting effect on Palace, the hosts will likely be keen to return the favour in this league match up.

16/09/2023 – The last time Palace made the trip in the Premier League, it looked like the visitors were going to return with all three points following an early second half goal from Odsonne Edouard. THE NUMBERS
Villa’s only defeat in 12 Premier League home matches against Palace came on Boxing Day 2013 (W7, D4). Villa have kept 6 clean sheets and never conceded more than once in any of those meetings.
Palace won this fixture 5-0 at Selhurst Park on the final day of last season and triumphed 2-1 at Villa Park in the League Cup fourth round last month.
The Eagles can remain winless after 6 Premier League away games of a season for the second time. It took them 9 attempts to earn a first away victory in 2017-18.
Palace’s tally of 7 points from 11 matches is their third lowest at this stage of a Premier League season. They had four points in both 2013 and 2017.
Oliver Glasner’s side have led for just 104 minutes in the league this season; only West Ham United have fared worse.
Their solitary victory in the last 14 league fixtures without Eberechi Eze was by 3-0 at home to Burnley in February (D5, L8).
Jean-Philippe Mateta has 16 goals in 24 Premier League appearances under Glasner, including a hat-trick against Aston Villa on the final day of last season. Only 2 of those goals were scored in away games.

TEB PREDICTION
Much will depend on whether Oliver Glasner will have any reinforcements back available as there has been a real negative impact after the League Cup win over this weekend’s opponents. However, the hosts are on a run of no wins in four games, two of those in the Premier League and they will be keen to get back to winning ways. With the expectation that the starting line up will be similar to that in the loss to Fulham, it is hard to see anything other than a victory for Villa.
PREDICTED SCORE: 2-1 to Villa |
